View Full Version : Help the hammock industry with your vote - Trek Light Gear needs your help!

Trek Light Gear has been nominated to win a $30K small business grant from Intuit and I need your help to make it a reality! Over the last 7 years Trek Light Gear has grown not with major advertising campaigns or the help of big box retail, but simply with the support of the hammock loving community and the great people that frequent this forum. A $30K grant would mean so much to the continued growth of Trek Light (read: new products!) and whether you own one of our hammocks or any brand, taking two seconds of your time to vote will help us show the world that life is better in a hammock!
I'm unfortunately making a late push for votes, tomorrow (6/30) is the last day to vote. Trek Light Gear is currently in 4th place nationwide(!!) and if you can all rally around this cause in the next 24 hours we can easily come out on top.

Just submitted my vote. I love your stand in Boulder and like to stop by after I hit the awesome crepe shop on Broadway :D

Finally got the site to accept my submission. Sent Genuine Draft an email with the link and orders to vote for Trek Light or I'm not bringing home the twizzlers she requested. That'll guarantee you her vote.

vote casted.... I dont own your hammocks but, along with Shug, totally support the hammock community on this board due to the insane kindness and great customer service of the cottage industry.
I don't own any of your gear, but I enjoyed looking at the purty women in your hammocks. That's worth a vote right there. :) Good luck. I hope you get the grant.

Anything you can do to ask your network of friends, family, etc. to support a cool small hammock biz like TLG would be greatly appreciated! 4th place is amazing, but it's going to take all your help to put a hammock biz in the lead.

We didn't win the grant during the period I was hoping for but it's an ongoing thing so every vote helps! To be honest the way they set it up was kind of poor, I actually had the most votes nationwide when the month ended so I thought we had pulled it off. Turns out though that they pick the 5 monthly winners by a RANDOM drawing, every vote you get is just an entry in the contest. When I saw that a business with only 5 votes won compared to Trek Light Gear's 700+ it kind of soured me on the contest since the whole point was to pick a business that most deserved it. I was so proud of the outpouring of support and was really hoping to have some good news to report!
That being said it's still going on and I've still got votes trickling in so you never know. It gives new meaning to 'all it takes it one vote'!

Hey folks - The biz grant contest is back in full swing and we're less than 100 votes away from being in the Top 10 businesses nationwide. We could really use your support and I can only imagine what an organized effort from the Hammock Forums crew could accomplish. As has been said before, even if you don't own a TLG product yet anything the helps the hammock industry is good across the board so I appreciate any and all help you can provide.
If you can re-post this in the general forum to help reach more people it would go a long way.

According to the official rules it sounds like you can only vote once every contest period (per email address), which resets every month as far as I understand. Multiple votes should be tossed out...BUT, I've noticed lots of repeat names/votes on all the others, including businesses that have won so at this point it's tempting to encourage everyone to vote as many times as you'd like and leave it up to the judges to handle the votes accordingly. Worst case scenario the multiple votes won't count but I'm definitely getting the feeling that others are encouraging people to vote as much as possible.
Since it would be wrong of me to encourage everyone to test the rules and vote as much as possible I'll just leave it at that. :)
