Hi,
i'm fairly new to Hammock Camping and i wondered if there's anybody who has used sleepingbags with integrated sleepingpad..
I've camped out in a hammock before and had frozen butt syndrome after 5minutes, a very cold night sleep etc..now i've got a nice warm sleeping bag that has a integrated pad like so:

and i wonder if that's any good in a camping hammock or will the pad bother me?
if needed i still have 5 days to return it...

take it out for an overnight test in backyard/park/local campground; most here prefer quilts, but your set up should be able to keep you warm; downside is that generally there is a bit of a wrestling match to get everything arranged nicely in the hammock. but try it before you giveup! KM
Can't speak for that particular bag but a few folks are using Big Agnes bags that have a pad sleeve --kind of similar-- in hammocks with success.
You really should give it a try. I have had cold butt at home yet, a sleeping pad helped alot -- but this thing tended to slip away in the night and it also asn't easy to get into the hammock without the pad slipping away.
Your built-in pad shouldn't have this problem.
I use a similar bag and it works good. However you have the problem of not having a very wide pad and you have to sleep in your bag. I prefer wide bottom insulation and I much prefer quilts. These bags are ideal for light wieght ground sleeping and work ok in a hammock.

Agreed with trying it. The pad really looks small in the picture.
Big Agnes has had pad sleeves for some time in their sleeping bags, but again, 20" is pretty narrow and may not keep your shoulders or hips warm where the hammock wraps around you and compresses insulation.
There are other simple and inexpensive pad based solutions out there as well. You could always make your own Segmented Pad Extender. Just search the forums for "SPE". They can be made by sewing gluing or even using tape.
