You all are killing me, I just cant stop modding my HH. I have cut my Ridgeline and am working on putting something in for a quick release. Here are my questions.

1: If I need to add some ridgeline, does it need to be rated, and if so where do I get it?

2: After I cut the line and want to attach it to the carabiners what knot do you reccomend so it dosent come lose over time?

3: Are there other choices you might recommend besides two carabiners?

Thanks as allways for the help.

I used a bowline:confused: knot on each of my two clips. You could just make a loup and a clip and save the oz. There are alot of different types of clips, snaps, hooks you could use. Grizzly Adams had a mathamatical formula somewhere about the weight on the ridgeline. Hope this helps.

A HH structural ridgeline might carry as much as a couple of hundred pounds of force. You'll need something that is rated at least that high if you add in some length. Any 2-6mm spectra should work just fine.

I use a bowline knot (http://www.animatedknots.com/bowlineboating/index.php) for that purpose. It ties easily, doesn't slip, and is a structured knot so it will slip on/off a biner/screwlink easily.

You shouldn't need two of anything. Either one biner or one screwlink (http://www.onrope1.com/store/index.php?p=product&id=181&parent=35) should work just fine. Just slip the bowline from each loose end of ridgeline onto either end of the fastener. As aerorider said, almost any fastener will work.
