I've narrowed my choice down to either the Hennessey DEEP JUNGLE ASYM ZIP XL, EXPLORER DELUXE A-SYM ZIP, or Clark North American Jungle Hammock. I need to buy it asap. I'll be hiking from Florida to Pa in September, October, and November. I'll be on the Florida Trail and The Appalachian Trail mostly. Help me choose.

Take a read of my post in this thread (four or five posts down). They are different beasties, each with strengths and weaknesses.

http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=21362

I consider the Claark to be a better design for cooler abd colder weather, and the Hennessey is much cooler sleeping (without the under-body storage pockets).

I have been a long-time HH owner, having gone through three models over 10+ years. I like them. But I wanted a model that was better suited for cold, and I chose the Clark over the HH accessories.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Jim nice post. I think I'd love a Clark, now it's down to the regular north american, the NX 150 or the NX 250. Again I don't have too much time to choose and the money isn't a huge issue although I don't want to overpay for things I won't need. I'm 5 10 and around 215lbs

At your size I'd be more concerned about the width of the hammock. The 250 will give you three additional inches of width which you will greatly appreciate with only a few ounce weight penalty. You'll also sleep fine if it's too long but not if it's too short. I would highly recommend the NX 250 for you.

I tooo would opt for the 250. I am pushing 300 and am "broad" everywhere, and I find the 250 to be roomy.

I own the deep jungle xl and there is no lack of room. If you read the review at http://www.backpackgeartest.org/ it is fairly accurate. I went from the regular model to the xl and found the xl easier to get out of, easier to zip up once inside, and when using it as a chair the ridge line was not a problem. However i am still evaluating it. One thing I wonder about is why they don't make the nets so they can be completely removed.

I agree with Jsaults. NX250. You won't regret it. The spreader poles open it up pleasantly. A feature no other brand has. They are so loaded with little details you will be amazed.

I recently bought a Hennesey and really like it. It came down to the Blackbird or the Hennesey and I choose the Hennesey because it does not have a zipper. But then, here's the down side to my purchase. I thought Hennesey was a "cottage industry" type business, much like I understand Blackbird to be. I was wrong. The Hennesey I recieved was made in China-another slap in the face to a country with 10% unemployment. And when I looked at my bank statement it had a $7.95 (or something like that) charge on it. I went to the bank and asked about it since I didn't recognize the charge and all they could tell me it was a charge made over seas. It was next to the Hennesy charge on the statement. So, no doubt, this was some sort of money exchange charge. So, eventhought I like the product, if I had it to do over I would have bought the Blackbird.

The currency charge was probably due to the fact that Hennessy is a CANADIAN company.

Keep researching, I did when in Clark Vs HH land and came to a different conclusion entirely (<--- obviously). Mind you the Clark and HH hamocks are fine set ups and you won't go wrong with either but there are more than those two offered. I suppose that if I was in final decided land and those two were it, the HH would win. Simply because you are going to want a better UQ and tarp at some point anyway and for the price difference you could build a dynamite HH kit.

Oh and WB is looking into China outsourcing too. For a few bucks more you can buy a USA made HH and also WB BTW.

My 2 cents anyhow...:D

I have an Eno and I'm eyeballing a WBBB, but if I were you, between the two (hey, that rhymed!), I'd go with the Clark.
