Got all wrapped up in what the Momentum fabric would feel like on the "skin" side of a quilt, so I picked some up with my last shipment of DIY supplies.

I must say, I'm disappointed. I guess I should have ordered the taffeta. I got the ripstop. The ripstop doesn't feel any softer than other lightweight ripstop to me. In fact, I've got some WW fabric that has a much nicer feel against the skin. It has larger ripstop grid, but otherwise seems to be a very similar fabric with a softer feel (hand?). Good news is that I've got another 50 feet of the WW fabric.

On the other hand, now I've got 2 yards of pretty expensive fabric I'm not sure what to do with. (Though I'm sure I'll find something.;))

Guess I'll have to see if I can get a swatch of the taffeta version to see if that's worth it.

Just thought I'd share.

Incidentally, I got the "forest gray" and it's a great color. Interestingly close to the WW stuff I have and I really like that color too.

I built two quilts out of momentum and it feels softer to me than my Jacks No Sniveller. Perhaps you just need to use it a bit and let it soften with time? I have some wally world fabric that I've used now for two Black Bishop Sacks and one Black Goose Quilt. The first Black Bishop sack is much older than the the other two items and it is much softer.

I have some taffita, and overall I feel that it has a softer hand than ripstop. It's usually recommended to use taffita on the inside of a quilt...but honestly, if you're all geared up in cold weather gear and/or sleeping gear, you probably won't notice one way or another.

I wish I could find some downproof stuff at WW. I keep finding non-breathable digital camo...Hmm, maybe I should offer a trade...
