This is a group buy for the glow in the dark (GITD) Line-Lok tensioners mentioned in this thread (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2582). Here's some info on the tensioners:

These cleats really do glow. Put one on your bedside table and you will wonder where the light is coming from in the middle of the night.

The Clamcleat® CL260 Line-Lok® cleat uses advanced tooth technology to hold securely all types of ropes and lines from 2mm to 5mm diameter. Quick and easy to tension and release. Will not shake loose, even in extreme conditions. Outperforms traditional alloy and plastic guy runners.

The company got back to me with a quote including shipping. I was told it would take up to 14 days to receive the order from the UK. Here's the breakdown for the pricing:

100 GITD Line-Loks = $.90 each
150 GITD Line-Loks = $.86 each

Since I will be ordering in quantity and to make things easier, I will only sell these in multiples of 10.

10 GITD Line-Loks = $8.60
USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail Shipping = 5.00
Total = $13.60

For each additional qty. of 10 add $8.60 to the total price.

I will accept PayPal, cashiers check, or money order. I am not making any money for doing this, so if you pay via PayPal you will have to also take care of the fees ($.72 for 10 Line-loks).

If you are interested in picking some of these up please reply in this thread with the qty. you want. I will let this run for a few days before I place an order.

so I've been debating joining in because 2mm is the minimum line width for this gizmo and that's quite a bit fatter than what I use or need to use for tarp tie-outs.

In the bedroom I occupied from 3rd through 12th grade there is painted on the ceiling in glow paint something that's still there. I think the name of a girl I had a crush on once (!) It's still there and it still glows.

the point being that glow in the dark is cool and I'm in for 10. Maybe I can find some of their fat glow in the dark line too sold in the US. Or maybe I can find glow in the dark paint to put on my lines!

Ahhh - I missed the size for these when I posted on the other thread that they are exactly the same as the BPL micro-tensioners.

These are bigger than the BPL micro-tensioners.

The BPL micro-tensioners are the mini Line-Loks for line diameters of 1 mm to 2 mm.

The mini Line-Loks only appear to be available in black or white. No glow in the dark colors.

Sorry if I mislead anybody on that.

At least now it is possible to order the mini Line-Loks direct instead of having to go through 2 more distribution layers.

The mini Line-Loks are said to work with 0-3 mm line and the larger Line-Loks work with 2-5 mm. I was thinking that you may be able to heat the larger Line-Loks with a heat gun or similar, softening the plastic a little, and then squeeze the jaws/teeth together a little so that they would work with 1 mm line also.

That's fine. I think many of us thought they were the small ones. I did until I was creating this thread and noticed that they also listed a mini size, only black and white. and then I compared the dimensions between the 2. They even look like the mini size in the pictures.

So please take note: These GITD Line-Loks are larger than the ones sold on BPL.

I'm sure there will be some extra floating around after everyone gets their order.

the site worked for me.

reminds me of one night at the beach when we tied a glow stick to the line on a fishing pole & cast it way out into the ocean.
the waves would wash it back in, but a good ways down the beach from were we were.
as people came strolling down the beach, they would stop to look at it & try to figure out what it was.
when they got to close, i would give the line a jerk! you should have seen them jump:p :D :p
i was rollin in the sand laughing so hard:D

oh yeah... that was pre-hammock days, so how can a hammocker freak somebody out w/ a glow stick:eek: ???

Wow, great link Cuffs. Just ordered the dog collar and leash for walking my pooch around the neighborhood after dark this time of year. Could have used the collar this past weekend in the Sipsey when she kept trying to chase the boogers out of camp (actually) not boogers but four feral pigs. Scary.

I hiked 203 west from the Borden trailhead to 208. Then hiked 208 over to 207 and followed 207 back. I was camped just off 207 on Braziel Creek. These are two seldom used and in some places hard to follow trails. Worth it though.

I have been to Sipsey 2-3 times and never got into the place. Of course the people I went with only hiked in a few miles and base camped. Once I would like to backpack the area instead of base camping.

If you would like to give it a try (backpack) sometime just let me know. I make it to the Sipsey for a BACKPACKING trip about six times a year. It is only two hours from my home so it is a convenient getaway. I think I have been everywhere there except maybe the Ugly Creek area.

While Sipsey is a designated "wilderness" its not that huge... you can get end to end in a day... I did a 12 mile hike/loop in a day and covered almost the whole thing...

SM and Ewk, we should go to Talladega and do a section of the Pinhoti!

Yes Cuffs, I like the Pinhoti also. I haven't really hiked very much of it though. Didn't you thru hike it? I have only hiked mostly section seven. I usually do the Chinabee Silent Trail for training before heading out for a section hike on the AT. I would love to do more it, maybe even thru hike it.

The best time would be whenever and if we ever get any rain. Right now of course most of the waterfalls are dry or only trickles. Along Thompson Creek is beautiful in the Spring with all of the wildflowers. A good trip is to go up Whiteoak Hollow and then bushwhack over the ridge and down into West Bee Branch canyon. Follow West Bee Branch to East Bee Branch and then to the Big Tree. Take the unnamed trail to the river and camp. Next day hike the 209 river trail back to Thompson Creek. Even though the Sipsey is rather small I do have a 30 mile loop hike that I did this past April.

Just to point out there has been more than a couple threads about trying to make your guylines and other such lines visible so you don't trip over them in the night wile trying to get to the potty. These seem to me to be an excellent solution.

Okay. Here's the deal. According to the list we are at 300 pieces total. Please count it yourself and let me know if I made a mistake. I contacted the company this morning and told them that the order would be 350 pieces. As soon as I hear back from them with a total price, I will post payment instructions and start taking payments.

Please check the list and make sure that your name and quantity is correct.

That means there are still 50 pieces up for grabs. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY ORDERED SOME, you can add any number of extra pieces if you want. For example if you wanted to get 12 pieces instead of 10, enough to do 2 cat cut tarps, that's fine. If you want to get some and you name is not on the list you still have to buy at least 10.

This is a group buy for the glow in the dark (GITD) Line-Lok tensioners mentioned in this thread (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2582). Here's some info on the tensioners:

The company got back to me with a quote including shipping. I was told it would take up to 14 days to receive the order from the UK. Here's the breakdown for the pricing:

100 GITD Line-Loks = $.90 each
150 GITD Line-Loks = $.86 each

Since I will be ordering in quantity and to make things easier, I will only sell these in multiples of 10.

10 GITD Line-Loks = $8.60
USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail Shipping = 5.00
Total = $13.60

For each additional qty. of 10 add $8.60 to the total price.

I will accept PayPal, cashiers check, or money order. I am not making any money for doing this, so if you pay via PayPal you will have to also take care of the fees ($.72 for 10 Line-loks).

If you are interested in picking some of these up please reply in this thread with the qty. you want. I will let this run for a few days before I place an order.

Good thing about paypal is your covered by there securtiy and they insure your purchases up to like $2000. Another thing when you get more use to it you can do money transfers for next to nothing beats the hell out of western union.:D Oh yeah and if you leave money in your account on paypal it collects close to 6%interest that beats the hell out of any savings account I've ever had.

Guess what was waiting for me in my mailbox when I got home? 350 GITD Line-Lok tensioners!!!!:eek:

Considering the holiday, that was super fast shipping from the UK. I will start getting packages together to ship this weekend and hopefully I can get most, if not all, of the packages shipped on Monday or Wensday. Probably by this time next week most of you will have your Line-Loks.

I didn't have much time to play with them but here's a quick report. Do they work with Speer No Tangle Guy Line? YES! Do they work with Mason Line? YES!

The Mason line is a little prone to slipping, but it takes quite a bit of force and the tensioners hold well enough to use for tarp guy lines. The The Speer guy line hold fine. It would be pretty easy to heat the jaws of the Line-Lok with a heat gun or maybe a lighter, and squeeze them together for use with even smaller line, although the Mason line and Speer No tangle are about the smallest line I own or have used.

I will try and get some pics posted tonight.

At the time I was using that same mason line as evidently works! The rating was for 2mm - 5mm, and I think (thought?) the mason line is a tad bit smaller.

I now have instead some line that is orange like Speers, but has reflective bits in it like the Triptease. And it's 2mm!

oh well.
