Folks, I found a source of high quality, lightweight, white cotton fabric that weighs 4 oz per square yard and has a thread count of about 100. It's much higher quality and lighter weight than the canvas that I used to make my anoraks. It is similar to the Egyptian cotton that I used to make FourDog's Canvas Sock with SEEP.

The new Canvas Gear, including Anoraks, Mukluks and Hammock Socks, are listed on the Molly Mac Gear web site (http://www.mollymacpack.com/canvas.html).

Hey MacEntyre

How are you going to handle the sizing on the Anoraks and Mukluks? Will they be custom made to measurements provided by the buyer?

One thing I have learned with winter camping is that light weight and ultralight terms really don't apply.

Cheers

Brian

Fabulous news Mac! Just when I sort out some time to field test my IX gear you come out with wonderful new products...I think I not only need to set some cash aside but set some time aside from work to get out in the bush more...hmmm...I've got some time management skills to work on!

I omitted that on the web site... will edit to say:

For Mukluks, you may either send me the liner that you want to use, or send an outline of your lined or socked foot, or tell me the shoe size that fits your socked foot! It's not a tight fit we're after. Correct length is more important than width.

For Anoraks, I will make three sizes, Small, Medium and Large. Again, we're not after a tight fit.

One thing I have learned with winter camping is that light weight and ultralight terms really don't apply.

I'd be pleased to know that gear I made got someone into the woods more often! :D

Great News Mac

I have only been able to locate affordable "servicable" cotton in 54 inch wide. but not 4 oz weight.

Looking forward to seeing the results appreciated by many more Cold Weather campers.

Hey Mac,
Anytime your ready ...
Trouble is, wifey like the idea of no hangs for the next two weekends... oh, well, there's six months of recon to do, so we can be prepared for next winter!

I'm working on summer mukluks, too!

I have only been able to locate ...cotton in 54 inch...
Same here. FourDog's Egyptian cotton was 54 inches wide. I can make it work. The SEEP can afford to be six inches shorter! :)

I also have to make do with cow hide, instead of the more desirable Moose, Elk and Buckskin.
