I'm finally ready to get a top quilt and have looking around quite a bit... Before I bite the bullet I figured I would get the opinion of you guys seeing that everyone here has been helpful in the past.

I weight in at about 300lbs so I need something a little bigger, I would like 3 season I doubt that I will be camping much below freezing. An nonsewn footbox would be nice but not mandatory.

What would you suggest?

Thanks in advance,
~Jim

I have the JRB No sniveler, and find it fits just fine. At 6' 2" with a 40 chest. The No sniveler is good up to 48" width. This leaves me just fine in my hammock.

If I were a bit bigger, I'd go with Warbonnet's mamba in a long, which is 55" wide.

The large Mamba is 1 oz heavier, and cost $20 more for the 7" wider quilt.

Wilderness Logistics just posted, here's a link to their King Quilt. Looks nice and the price is right.

Thumbs up on the Hammock Gear Burrow. I wear a 52 jacket and I'm buried in my winter burrow.

how much extra room should you allow? If you measure your "girth" at lets say 46" how much wider would you want the quilt?

I'm gonna have to second Adam's custom quilts. I have a long winter burrow on it's way and am itching to get it and cant wait. But which ever way you go all the vendors on this site make excellent products its just which one works for you best.

you want the edges of your top quilt to extend down past where your under quilt comes up to. I would say you probably want a couple of inches in overlap.

So if you are laying in your hammock, and your under quilt to the top of your shoulders, then your top quilt should probably reach the bottom of your shoulders.

I like my Wilderness Logics King Size TQ. It is more coverage than I will ever need. Tested it out last weekend, and I was really warm. You cant beat that price with all of the extras too. They gave me a stuff sack and a loose storage bag that comes standard on all of their quilts. I almost forgot about the free shipping too!!!

I don't know how big Big Papi's TQ might be, but late last year Adam made me one that is about 55" wide. And I am similar in size to you, but smaller than Big Papi. I believe that the width could be nearly 60" using the full width of material.

Oh, yeah - Mine was a 3-S Burrow.

I'm ordering a custom Burrow from Adam, 55"x86". So, yet another vote for Hammock Gear.
