After reading all the good things about the switchback, I have convinced myself that I must get one. The easy part was deciding I want one. The hard part is which one. I am paralyzed with indecision - 1.1 DL, 1.9 DL, 1.9 SL, 1.1 DL LH?

Is there a significant difference in comfort or feel between these models?

Nice hammocks, gonna have to get one. I particularly like the double zipper design.

Depends on how much you weigh. See the weight capacity shown on the detailed descriptions. Also, a DL will allow you to insert a sleeping pad in between layers, where as with a SL you'd have to lie on top of the sleeping pad. Not an issue if you plan to use a under-quilt.

I just got a light hiker and it is great. I find it very comfy. I chose this one because of weight as I'll be using it backpacking.

I like the double zipper design as well.
I'm about 5-8, 180# so I think any of switchback versions would work...
Does the 1.1 fabric feels different than the 1.9 - or does the DL provides a different feel than the SL?

For your size/weight you'd be best off with a single 1.9 Classic, DL 1.1 Classic or DL 1.1 Light Hiker. A DL 1.9 Classic would be overkill. I just ordered a DL 1.1 Light Hiker myself.

I'm 6'0" and 220# and my Light Hiker is very comfortable. It should be plenty for you. The 1.1 dbl Light Hiker feels as strong/sturdy as my 1.7 dbl Blackbird. It is bombproof. Various photos of the Light Hiker can be found here (http://shaneandpamela.com/cpg/thumbnails.php?album=38).

I've got a 1.1 dbl Switchback on the way as well and will put up some pics once it's delivered.

When backpacking solo, I'll be taking the Light Hiker. When backpacking with the wife, I'll be taking the 1.1 Dbl SB and she gets the Light Hiker.

Thanks everyone for the information...

So far it sounds like the 1.9DL would be overkill for me and unless there is a significant advantage in comfort for the 1.9DL, might as well go with one of the lighter options....

^shane^ thanks for the great shots of the light hiker! Those pics really give a good feel for the light hiker.

It looks like the switchback can optionally use a "spreader bar" with the bug net, while the light hiker does not have this option.... Any thoughts on the value of the "spreader bar" option?
