View Full Version : 1.1 Lighthiker vs 1.1 SW

Can anyone explain the major differences? Has anyone tried both?

If I'm reading HF posts and the TTT website correctly, it looks like the SW is a little longer, larger net, and different interior material (taffeta)?

I'm most interested in how they hang.... esp if one is flatter or better for a side/stomach sleeper with a 6'-180lb frame. Cost isn't an issue, weight adds a minor penalty but is minimal if extra comfort is involved.

Any recommendations would be great. Thanks!

(coming from a WBBB 1.1dbl FWIW)

by SW do you mean the regular Switchback SB??? I had the 1.9 double SB and now have the lighthiker.

I think the biggest differences are that the lighthiker is 8" shorter and doesn't come with spreader bars (though I've been playing around with some 22" garden sticks and the lighthiker can be modified.

Also, the 1.9 double uses a #5 zipper and the LH a #3. Not sure ab the 1.1.

I was advised that the McCat Deluxe tarp would be better than the Standard for the LH.

Correct, 1.1dbl vs Lighthiker

Bugnet isn't a big deal. I'd guess the 1.1 and 1.9 would have relatively close to the same flatness.... do you notice any difference in laying sideways/fetal on your 1.9 vs the LH?

Do any of you 6ft-ers feel cramped in the Lighthiker?

I'm only 5' and although I called the 1.9 SB my Taj Mahal, I felt that there was so much wasted space/fabric/weight.

So, yes, there IS a difference, but at least I can now reach the storage pockets!!

Kinda like one person sleeping in a double bed v a king-sized bed.

hmmmm guess I'll have to call the LH my "mini-Taj) :)
