JRB Katahdin as an Underquilt

Preach's Wife is building me a new winter top quilt and I'd like to use my Katahdin as an Underquilt. Anyone have suggestions on how to hang the Katahdin without having to do any modifications to it? The Katahdin only has drawstrings on each end and doesn't have any corner loops installed like you'd find on the No Sniveler.

Do a search on the Garlington taco/insulator. Basically a hammock below you hammock that holds the insulation against the hammock you are sleeping in.

If I was you I would just sew on a loop onto each corner. If you do not know how a seamstress could do it pretty cheaply. It would also be the most weight eficent.

What kind of suspension system is commonly used for a big quilt like the Katahdin? Would the JRB suspension shock cord be strong enough to hold that up or would you expect to replace it fairly often?

I ask because I'm having difficulty keeping my B1 quilt from stretching the shock-cord too much -- maybe my suspension shock-cord has stretched over time -- it's a year old now. (I'm using the JRB suspension system)?

The weights of both quilts are right around 36oz. Very similar. The Katahdin is wider and longer than my B1 though.

To use the Large Family of quilts as under quilts simply pull the draw strings on each end and use the draw strings to tie the quilt to the hammock suspension line/strap at the end of the hammock. Don't pull the end cords all the way. Leave the ends of the quilt loose enough to wrap around the end of the hammock. It works like a champ on my Claytor. See the pictures on our web site.

Thanks Smee. I was beginning to wonder if there was going to be a "Large Family of Suspension Systems" too. I appreciate the info.
