I had been following the thread and really liked the direction it was going early on.

You went the extra mile and got this great looking badge;

I need a little help with the cost equation.

Lets make a couple of assumptions say I was to order 20 pieces and 200 were total ordered by 10 buyers:

Would the cost be:
0.56X20=11.20 total number ordered cost X number I would order
13.00/10=1.30 Shipping (Approx $13.00) / # of Buyers
((11.20+1.30)X(2.9%))X30%)=16.72 PayPal Fee (2.9% + 30%)
16.72+5.20=21.92 Your Shipping ($5.20 USPS Priority for a small flat rate box))

If so this looks like a darn bargain compared to regular meritbadges $3 + the $5 book.

11Steve11,
First I found an error in the Paypal equation. It is +$.30 not +30%

Second, I added a calculation example to the Google Doc (https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?...thkey=CLWs3dYL). I think the below is right. Check it for me please

We are also at 130 ordered, and 70 short of the 200 needed for the .56 cost.

Individual Order Calculation
Cost Per Badge: $0.86
Badges Ordered: 20
Sub-Total: $17.20

Delivery Cost: $13.00
#Of Buys: 8
Sub-Total: $1.63

Badge Sub-Total: $17.20
Delivery Sub-Total: $1.63
USPS Shipping: $5.20
Sub-Total: $24.03
PayPal Fee 2.9%+$.30 $1.00
Total: $25.02

Love the group buy, and I'm in for a small batch (at this point I will have as many patches as members of our Troop)

The patch artwork is nice, but has there been any thought to colorizing it a bit? Might make it stand out a little better. Of course, that could drive up the price, but I was just curious.

Thanks,

-Mike

Mike,
I floated the thought of adding some additional color to it, but I had about as many opinions on color as the number of people I asked.

Yeah, I can see how that can happen. I was just thinking the trees and mountains could use some color to help define them, but too many opinions make it hard to sort out. Thanks for taking the lead on this.

Rikall,

Everyone,
We have made the magic 200+ number. Yeah!

ALSO,
Today is my Son & Nephews Eagle Court of Honor. Very excited to celebrate their achievements.

Just ordered 30 more. There are 3 troops in my area that are getting into hanging - I just hope 30 is enough!

It is great to see this idea take off this well.

I spent 30 minutes teaching part II of the Hammock MB yesterday to our troop. Went over the common knots and how they are used, reviewed the LNT principals, and basic hammock systems. Also talked about some of the innovations from some of our forum members. Maybe someone out there will get inspired enough to come up with next woopie-sling, or maybe a suspension-less hammock?

Very cool to share knowledge with others, and truly see them excited to learn it.

There was a thread earlier about a suspensionless hammock. It involved Chuck Norris, some sort of roundhouse kick, and Earth not wanting to risk another one. The president of my Crew tells Chuck Norris jokes incessantly. I should introduce him to the idea.

I'd like one, not 10. So if someone has an extra they want to sell, let me know.
