After much researching and debating, its done deal... now, the wait.
solid build quality, and woodland camo are main factors...

thinking of setup ideas, something continuous like neo's set up...
-use factory straps as tree huggers, run a biner on each end, straps or climbing rope to a pair of rings with garda hitch, close to the ends of the hammock for drip spot.
-then tarp like shugs, toggle to prussik/tarpend, "", and then fig 9 biner.

woopie slings look cool, but idk...
maybe one ring at hammock end, to woopie, to tree strap...?
should work, just want some metal to make sure water drips to the ground and stays out of the hammock...

So you got a Claytor JH? Sweet! Listen, while your figuring out the fancy suspension options, don't sell short the stock suspension and go ahead and get started hanging with it. I am probably odd man out around here regarding that suspension. But other than wicking water ( easily solved ) that suspension is UL and works about as good as any.

For the water problems, either
a: simply put a couple of extra knots on each side of the channel. @ knots on each side effectively stopped all water problems for me.
B: cut the stock rope, leaving a small piece thru the channel. Tie a bowline of figure 8 with a loop on each side of the channel, and put a biner or ring through the loops. attach the rest of the stock rope to the ring, run around the tree and back to the ring, finish with a couple of slippery 1/2 hitches.

Either of the above is just as quick and easy to adjust as any other suspension. Just do a mod to stop the water. If using a ring/biner, keep it under the tarp, of course.

Or, just do Whoopies or something else for fun. It's all good!

My two primary reasons for buying the JH: solid build quality, and woodland camo ;)

I didn't care much for the stock suspension, and opted for the all-in-one suspension from www.whoopieslings.com and added a pair of dutch clips - works perfectly!

Looks amazing...

So far I have modded the suspension and am pretty happy with it...
My JH now sports;
-10' DIY woopies
- ends were gathered with a 24" section of amsteel, double fishermans, then larks head knotted to a pacific omega ring, essentially creating a solid drip point at each end of the hammock...
-took one of the original suspension lines cut it in half and make fixed loops at each end = 5' tree straps
-nano biners to connect... or... another option
-2 sections of easton aluminum for marlin spikes...

Soooo....
I now have to figure out my ridgeline, I'm thinking something like the adj., one woopieslings makes. over the tarp of course...
got 40' of 2mm rope, and another few feet to make soft shackle prussiks, to connect the tarp to the line and have adjustability to match/center the tarp to the woopies on the hammock.

I made a soft shackle prussik with some of the guy line that comes with the hammock just to practice, but the 2mm will require a finer wire to create and bury the loop. I'll grab that tomorrow...

Just need some help on what to do with the ends?
toggle and a prussik like shug? instead of a nite ize bone knot..
then maybe a small fig 9 on the other...

oh yeah, tarp guy lines are rigged with fact line, and fig 9's and about foot of shock cord, connected to easton spikes...

ridgeline done...
28 ga. steel wire makes quick work of 2mm rope...
40' ridgeline, 2mm, rigged above the tarp...
2mm soft shackle prussiks, with a bead.. extra measure of holding the loop.
and for the ends just plain old 2mm fig 9's... quick and easy.

will be using it for the 3rd and 4th... so pics/vid?
and the weekend after at Priest Lake... oh yeah, mackinaw on the BBQ...:cool:

Very nice. Western Washington is so beautiful......before August. Only disappointment is that the pics don't get larger here for a closer look........of your work, too. Are they from a set posted in another public pic album?
