Anyone use an all-in-one stuffsack?

Does anyone use one big bishop sack to hold hammock, UQ, TQ, UQP & bugnet altogether? Just clip to trees, pull everything out in one go and it's done?

If so -

1. What are the bishop sack dimensions?
2. What size does it go down to when it's compressed?


Also - thinking of making my stock WBBB suspension detachable so that I can keep the straps seperate from the hammock if they get wet...

Has anyone done this and what did you do?

well right now i use one big stuff sack just for my quilts...
but if i was going to make a BB bag for everything but my tarp i would figure out what hammock/bugnet and quilts i was going to use and figure out how much space ci wise i would need first...

then go from there for a WBBB a yeti size UQ a reg TQ i would say something about 2x the size of the stock BB bag that comes with the WBBB
maybe 10-12 inch in diameterand 16-18 wide? dunno i'll make one this week and let you know ;)


a BB bag will only compress as much as you can push on it... a BB bag is not a compression style stuff sack so there is no true answer for this ...

sure you can make it detachable but if your going to do that why not upgrade to Whoopie slings Dutch biners and tree straps ... it will do what you are looking to do without added extra weight... and you will save a few oz as well

I will actually be doing this soon as I have a proper UQ and TQ. I much prefer the idea of having my hammock ready as soon as I pull it out of the bag. :D

I'm not sure about the bishop sack question but you may want to consider a stuff sack like these instead of removable suspension-

I have been thinking a lot about this lately. I think it's a great idea and would simplify set up quite a bit.

I have done this once. I just stuffed everything in my backpack though, why not just save the weight and do that, or stuff in a trash bag or something. It was nice and convienent the one try I gave it, but things got a bit tangled up. Only small adjustments needed so no big deal, but I like to do things seperately. Especially the hammock since when I'm just hanging around camp I like to go quiltless even in cold weather. Just less to fuss with.

I have done this on and off over the years, mostly with my HHSS but also with my PeaPod over a Claytor No Net hammock. But not with a Bishop bag, just a regular stuff sack. Or sometimes simply all stuffed down inside my pack. Here is a picture of the entire HHSS PLUS my Golight 20F TQ, all stuffed inside one sack. It is much faster and easier than tearing down separate components each day:

A variation on this is to pack my TQ and HHSS underpad separately, and slip everything else very quickly into a snake skin. This is also very fast- but not AS fast! Stuffing the Under pad ( and TQ or the PeaPod) separately def adds some minutes, but then the skins on the hammock and on the tarp if separate really takes away some minutes, so...........

Can't seem to watch videos posted on HF, don't know why...but the link to Flatline's Lazy Slug was most helpful. I reckon I'll go down this road as I hated stuffing the bunched up bit in the middle into the snakeskins I use on my HHULBP. The DD hammock sleeve is much easier to use but clearly too small for an all in one stuffsack.

I'm using a WBBB and have a Winter Incubator & UQP coming in the post soon (can't wait!). Just seems like so much sense to encase everything in one sleeve that's quick & easy to deploy. Can't wait to see the looks on my mates' faces as I lounge comfortably in my rig watching them fiddling about putting their tents up!

I used a stuff sack from a big old syn. sleeping bag. Then I sewed a larger button hole in the bottom of the stuff sack so the tree strap will fit through but the descender ring will not.The bottom button hole is the foot end. Then I can deploy the hammock with the TQ, UQ and bed clothes in place. I pack this into my pack by squishing the loaded sack into a long shape and as big around as the opening on my cuben pack liner. It is easier to do than I explained it. Once it is in the liner and pack I squash the rest of the way to the bottom of my pack. One more thing I have done is sew a hair tie at the top( near the draw string) and bottom (next to the button hole). This way I can wrap up my tree straps.

it' just a big ole set of skins.
quick up and quick down, i just sue my pack like a stuff sack and cram it all in.
the cramming is the compression, not the l s t.

I sometimes use a single stuff sack for my hammock and insulation. If it is dry, I can fit my tarp in there with it.
