Has anyone ever tried to have a kid lay flat in a single nest, could kids under 5 ft fit in one diagonally?
Someone asked me this today, wanting to buy on for him and his son and I told him to go with the dbl nest to be sure for $10 extra just in case, but I would still like to know if anyone has tried or thinks it would work.
My son manages to get a flat lay in his singe nest....he is 6'2". But he has a ridgeline. That gives the droop he needs.

never was able to get as flat as in some others and for me the Warbonnets work the best... I have been using the Blackbird for a few years now. Just bought a Traveler for winter... Both have the same lay for me.... A structural ridgeline may help. I never tried that
I get a very flat lay in my EDN and I am 5',6." I have tried an adjustable ridgeline with varied amounts of sag and have determined that as long as I have a 30 degree hang angle, I get the flattest lay with no ridgeline at all. I keep one loosely attached anyway to keep up my bugnet and to hang stuff from, but it has only a very slight tension on it.
Which is to say, it's a matter of experimentation, and as they say around here "hanging your own hang."
If I use a 30* angle and a lot of sag, I'm flat.

6 foot here, i get a flat lay pretty easy...it took some trial and error to get it right but no issues here.

Ok, to clearify your folks are getting a flat lay in a single or dbl
I have doubles. I use a pretty steep angle - the preferred 30* and then lay diagonal (or asymetrically) across it. I have some dyneema that I use for a ridgeline, so that I get the same amount of sag wherever I hang it.

it does not look like you could lay flat in a single, but I have never been in a single
