View Full Version : Olive Drab DWR width?

All of the 1.1 oz olive drab DWR I've found in Walmarts across the country has been 48" wide or less. Most of the other fabric is 60" or more wide, and I've found regular 1.9 oz untreated ripstop in olive drab. Every now and then I've seen other 48" wide fabrics, but they're usually also available in bigger widths if you keep looking. But I've never found or heard of anyone finding OD DWR at Walmart that's bigger than 48". I wonder why it's that consistent across the country.

Anyone found full-width 1.1 oz olive drab DWR? Sure would be helpful for a few of my projects.

I have some dark green 1.1 oz ripstop with the DWR treatment that is about 53" wide. I think it was the same material that we made a trade on a while back.

I have 15 yds of OD DWR ripstop that I think is 1.1 oz from my Walmart find last week. I would be up for a trade on some of it.

I just found about 25 yards of full-width untreated OD green 1.1 oz. at Walmart. I found OD DWR too, but it's 48" like yours.

It really takes a little experience to spot it. Normally the DWR treatment will leave one side of the fabric a little more shiny than the others side. It is also harder to blow air through DWR treated fabric.

i need to go through & organize all this fabric so i know what i do have.
i need to check the width & weight & make note on what ever I'm going to keep the fabric in.
maybe we need to share organizing methods for fabric & other parts for home made gear<g>.
if you don't get your hands on what your looking for, drop another email to remind me & i'll see what i have. ...tim

Wanna hear something funny? Right after I posted that message, we checked out of the hotel...and hit the Walmart across the street on the way out. And I found TWO bolts of full-width OD DWR...I didn't measure it but it's at least 60" wide. Seriously, like 10 minutes after I posted the message the lady was measuring them for me.

One is a little darker than the other, but no big deal. I should have a new OD hammock sock before the January campout!

Nice find- though I seem to prefer non-stealthy colours for camping. :)

I like stealthy. Sometimes I camp where they do not like me to. But I am allergic to camo.
