I'm considering adding a ridge line to my Speer. My question is what location is the best to attach it to the webbing? Above, below, or even instead of the bug netting line? I have a heavy duty sewing machine and can attach metal "D" rings to the webbing if necessary. I have some AirCore Plus or could find some Amsteel 12 for the actual line.

Mine attaches right where the support lines meet the hammock.

Why did you choose that location?

I chose that location because it was the shortest distance to be able to attach the ridge line, which means I could use less line, and therefore less weight. I know it wouldn't amount to much weight, but every little bit helps. I also like to keep the RL close enough that it can be easily reached while lying in the hammock.

I'll test that location when I set it up again. It seems a bit low to me, but it might work. It'll be well below the bug netting, though. Thanks.

"therefore less weight"

I bet you get a haircut, trim your toenails, and drill holes in your underwear! LOL

Holes in the underwear, hm?

Hmm.... thanks for the tip! :D

I am sure back in the 60's it was pound weenies. LOL! :D But I agree, at a certain point, it gets rediculous...

actually it was ounce weenies.... and yes... I _did_ cut the handle off my toothbrush at one point.

My old Dana Designs TerraPlane pack weighs 1/3 of my base weight now. But it sure is comfortable.
