Photo size too big

I have tried posting photos, and recieved the message that the file size was too big. What am I doing wrong? I haven't changed anything since I first added photos.

The gallery images are presently restrained by both filesize and dimensions.

extension/size/width/height:
jpg/3.05mb/700/600
gif/2mb/700/600
png/2mb/400/600
jpeg/3.05mb/700/600
bmp/4.86mb/1280/1024

All other attachments are limited to 2mb.
