How do you store your pod?

Recently got a 20*F PeaPod. Curious how pod owners store theirs. In plastic comforter bag (one it came with)? Other type of storage sack? Hang loose?

I don't have a pod, but I store all of my down gear either by hanging it or in a large pillow case. I've moved more towards hanging it, as I like the looks of it in my gear room. I take the corresponding stuff sack for whatever quilt or sleeping bag it is, and place it either in the quilt or on the same hook that the gear itself is hanging on to keep from losing the correct stuff sack.

Whatever you do, just make sure that it is stored loosely and in a dry area, and can "breathe". It doesn't have to be fully lofted, you just want to ensure it's not compressed when in storage, and that it can air out. I wouldn't use a plastic comforter bag for storage personally, but the one the pod comes in may be different than what I'm picturing.

Now that I think of it, my gear room looks like a padded cell...how appropriate. :lol:

Walmart has large mesh laundry bags-nylon, good sized holes. That is where one of my peapods is, another is on loan, and another is packed in a Mariposa Plus.

Most of my gear is stored in two or three places.

On the attic (dry and cool or hot in summer) is my insulation, down quilts, sleepingbags and my pea pod.

If not in use my tarp and hammock rest there too, next to my Kifaru tipi and stove (for ground dwelling :scared:) and my External frame backpack. On top of the External Frame pack there are dry bags, stuff bags in a flight protection bag.

In 'my' room my 'go to' backpack hangs with tarp/hammock (and lines/suspension) for weekend jaunts. Necessary tools (axe, knives, bucksaw etc. hang on the wall (functional decoration).

In a closet I have got my cooking gear and small stuff in a box, ready to choose from (depending on trip, weather, whatever I feel like)

In the shed there is the heavier stuff like my camping cod, Dutch Oven (and my dive gear, sorry OT).

So to be short, store the down goodies where you can loft them and keep them dry. A lot of people hang them, I don't have that space....

Thanks for the comments about "down" in general. I usually hang my smaller HG Phoenix in closet for same reasons mentioned. It is just harder to find space to hang the PeaPod due to its size.

I know Ed Speer told me( and I think JRB did also) that the pod was stored pretty long term sometimes in the little plastic box with breathable top. Still, it blows up like a balloon after not too long. So I really don't think there is a problem storing in the box it came in.

Still, I have always stored mine hanging in the closet. But if company is coming and we need extra closet room, I don't hesitate to put it back in what it shipped in for however long company is here. Which has sometimes been for a couple of months, but usually a week or two.

I have had mine from Ed Speer for a good 4 years, and it still puffs up as much as it ever did. Which is an amazing amount of puffiness indeed!

If you plan on using the vinyl quilt bag we shipped it in, poke a bunch of holes in it so it will breath some. The vinyl bags are used primarily for protection during shipment. I prefer using mesh bags or hanging them myself.

REI has these XL mesh bags. I bought a bunch of them and put all my down item in them. They seem to work well.

The easiest thing to do is to make your own snakeskins that are large enough to hold your hammock and your pod. There are some write-ups on that if you look around.
