The shipping to the original buyer for a 62"+ long roll is very high and adds a significant amount per yard. I have bought 25 yd and 40 yd rolls and the shipping brought the per yard cost up to ~$2.00.

Agreed. Pull the plug soon. We need to make sure those that are pulling off this group buy don't lose money on the deal. As such I expect to be shorted 1' or so on my fabric order. That way it should work out in favor of our benefactors. To that end (when I am not on my cell phone) I will up my order...

If I were closer, I'd offer to help cut and package... but it's a bit of a drive....

The cutoff should be sooner. In less than 24 hours we have over 500 yards. With 4 days to go, this is going to be way too much for some to handle. That's a lot of money involved too.

No issue with stopping it sooner, as the OP decides.

There's precedent for Group Buy starters to bear in mind as a serious consideration - The Amsteel Buy ended at about 7.75 miles of cording. Buys can get unexpectely large quickly. It's probably a good practice to set a material limit, in addition to a time limit.

I spoke with Larry, He said "dont worry about stock, you wouldnt believe how much of this stuff we have, with all the military."

He also said he would have my order out by Mon. which is pretty solid.

There are several things that have gone on here:
-We've had a few HF members purchase rolls, and their intention is to offer their material at the costs listed in this post, if you are comfortable with that, feel free to work that out and remove yourself AFTER you've gotten the details worked out
- Magna has plenty of fabric, so we'll be fine with what interest we have so far
-I am going to pause the sign up list at this time since there's so much up and down, on and off. For the 23 people on the list at this moment, expect a PM from me with pricing and confirmation that you are in.
-Fabric may come from me or one of the other HF members who have contacted me about helping.

Hard to argue that it has gotten a bit confusing.

At dukedante's (OP) request, I'm going to lock this thread temporarily while things get sorted out. It is a pause in the thread, not a shut-down. As soon as things get squared back out, then dukedante will make a post and we'll go back to your normally scheduled programing.

I am closing the group buy, as we have provided 400yds of fabric to the interested parties. Magna has put up dozens of new bolts of the fabric, many in small enough quantities that are easily affordable for one person, or to share with a friend. This makes the group buy unnecessary, as the previous bolt were pretty huge. I'm glad we were able to help some folks out, and it looks like we may have a new source of fabric to choose from. Cheers!
