Hi guys
I just recently got back form a handout in the woods for my mates birthday and every night for some reason it was getting really quite wet in between my sleeping mat and my sleeping bag. I'm just a bit confused about why, as it didn't rain once and I have the DD frontline hammock that should be breathable enough to allow any condensation to to be blown away in the breeze.
If any one has any ideas or if any one has had the same problem, it would be grate to here what can be dome to prevent it for when I next go comping.

The pads are not breathable! If you change to a UQ you will see a difference! If you must use a pad then you might try a layer of wicking material between your body and the pad!

Not getting in your sleeping bag and using it as a top quilt is the best way.
It will drastically reduce the amount of trapped moisture and you won't have to dry your bag out.
Everytime I get in a sleeping bag on a mat in my hammock, it gets damp. Using it as a quilt, it always comes out dry. ;)

Ok well I guess it's just the condensation then, I'll make sure to use my sleeping bag as a top quilt next time and I really need to hurry up and get the materials form my UQ project as it sounds like it is the way forward.
Thanks for all the help!

A good underquilt, well snugged up, is leagues ahead in comfort.
Its 5 star hammock camping :)
You won't believe how dry you wake up compared to a mat. I stay bone dry with my down underquilts, even with my non-breathable hammock.
If you need any help with UK sourcing and materials, just ask :)

Ye I could definitely do with a bit of help, because to be honest at the moment I'm finding it a bit hard to locate a good source for both, the nylon for the sell of my under quilt, as well as the down I want to fill it with.
I have finished my final design now so all i really need is the materials.
If you could help me it would be much appreciated :D!

Material for the shell;
Fabrics n stuff ( my fave in the UK)
Ebay(search for ripstop nylon, you want the lightest stuff)
Pro-fabrics
Extremtextil, germany
Shelby.fi, finland
Diy gear supply, USA
Backwoods daydreamer, USA
Plenty more vendors in the US, may well work out cheaper than Germany or finland.
Pertex Microlight, Pertex 4( bit heavier), any calendared downproof lightweight fabric.
Down;
UK hammocks
Down pillow-(hard to get the right quality though)
Extremtextil
Have a look at them mate, decide on your colours/budget/intended weight and then you can check back in here to the great HF hivemind if your not sure. :)

if you want to go for a pre made under quilt , I would recommend the one thats on the DD site . I have one and I am very happy with it and its a lot cheaper than the others that are out there. Happy hanging !:laugh:
