I have always hated tying the knots to attach my pods. Difficult to get the tension just right. So, I did the following...
http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery/files/8/7/6/pod1_thumb.jpg (http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=17831&c=member&orderby=title&direction=ASC&imageuser=876&cutoffdate=-1)
Grosgrain loops attached along the seam on each side on both ends in the unstuffed area. One side on each end has a cord tensioner. I used shock cord for my cord.
It can then be clipped to a mini biner with prussick.

Or just hung over the knot on a gathered end hammock.
The adjustment is so easy now and attachment takes only seconds without having to tie the knots. The cinch cords are easily tied to seal or vent the ends as needed.

One added bonus for me is it seems like the top drapes into the hammock more since the tension for attachment is on the sides.

Nicely done................I ran shock cord thru the channel along with the shoelace but I just might have to redo it...............TY

This had been up for 6 months and didn't get noticed by the "pod people". Glad it was found...thanks for the comments. I started out just to get easier attachment to the hammock then found that having the closure and suspension seperate made a big difference in how the pods perform. Really easy to do too...even if sewing by hand.

I received my antique synthetic filled Peapod today and immediately did the mod. One thing i did extra so i could take it on and off easier was put a double mitten hook between the two cord locks on the clinch ends. this keeps the velcro from opening up on the ends. Works really well.

Well that might be reason enough to do it right there!

Does anyone know if the new Pods are being made this way, or if I'll need to do this mod when/if I get my Polar Pod??

You dont need to do the mod but it helps a lot. As far as I know TTTG has not changed their design. It is a very easy mod to do.

Thanks. Sounds like it's worth doing, if not totally necessary. It looks simple enough even I can do it!! Surprising TTTG hasn't made the change??

You might contact Darby and ask about it if you are going to order a new one.
