Warning and slight complaint and suggestion

For all of you OES tarp users I have one question:

About a month ago I purchased a 4 season 10x11 tarp used from one of the members, it was in great condition looked brand new. It had 4 guy-outs on the sides (2 on each side) they were seem-sealed great, the main seam was seam-sealed great as well, however, the ridge line pullouts are where my complaint is, it appears the Brian has sewn the ridge-line pullouts after he has sewn the tarp together. I have taken care of this problem for now (waiting for a good test time) but I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem? If anyone knows how to get a hold of Brian than can you please direct him or let him know of this.

Yep...my 4-season leaked right there. It looks kind of like those ridgeline loops were an afterthought. A little dab of flowable silicone on the threads of each one and it was good to go. It was annoying getting dripped on in the middle of a downpour though. That will teach me to ops-check my gear before a first trip I guess.

Brian offers seam sealing as an option. Considering you bought this tarp used and not from him, giving a "warning" and a "slight complaint" is pretty unwarranted. Especially considering you don't know if it came that way from OES or not. Regardless of what the seller might have told you, you really don't know who actually seam sealed it. Either way, always check used gear. Seam sealing is easy.

Prices and weights include stuff sack and seam sealing (where appropriate). Compare that to other tarp manufacturers, who force you to seam seal your own tarp and make your own stuff sack, but don’t include these factors in their final weights.

I just noticed the optional seam sealing for $6.50. I don't believe it was an option when I bought both of my tarps, it was just part of the price.

When I bought my OES last Jan. of 2011,,,seam sealing from Brian was not a option then,,I had to seam seal it.

my tarp must have been a older model then because it was seam seam sealed, I am actually going to buy some seam sealer myself an seal it top and bottom side of the seam. any suggestions on what seam sealer to use?
