My research tells me that the "factory shipped" tarp with my hammock is grossly inadequate in terms of size. After looking at some of the photos in this forum and reading some threads I am convinced that a bigger tarp would be more suitable to a handling the elements.

I purchased the hammock and would like to outfit it with a tarp that is ideal for keeping dry, etc. Is there a certain brand or size that people generally buy for their Clark?

I wouldn't say "grossly inadequate." In fact, I've just ordered another stock tarp for my NX-200.
But if you hang out under your tarp for more than just sleeping . . . you may want some more room.
Or perhaps you want the ability to close up the tarp a little in bad weather.

There are lots of options

JRB 11x10
JRB Hammock hut
Speer Winter Tarp
OES Maccat Deluxe
etc.
etc.

I had OES make me a custom 10x12

Thanks. The reason I had a negative impression is because I read a post where someone was very unhappy with it. Admittedly, it does look small in the photos when set up.

I would like a little more room so maybe another tarp would be a good idea.
The custom made OES you have looks great. I'll be looking around and perhaps consider one of those myself.

By the way, how are you hanging the bugnet and weathershield in the OES?

Singletrack take a look at all the stories about tarps that have been written don't go off just on or too threads do a search on here about clark's and tarps

I posted a link on here to a thread I started sometime ago you might want to look at and by all means take a look at my video it will help allot more than just a few pictures if you are thinking about tarps and clarks the links are under my name on here and I think someone else did a link to the video that you can watch from this forum and here it is.

I sit in my hammock not on another chair I cook from my hammock not somewhere else so that I can sit and cook and as for bad weather unless you by one of the speer tarps or jrb tarps or one of brains tarps custom you cant ask for one that is better for fowl weather.

take a look at video's before you start if you have not already looked at both videos.

then base your opinion.

I have some small tabs that Brian sewed to the underside of the ridge-seam.
They pull very slightly on the ridgeline, dimpling the ridgeline at those spots.
Not the best idea on my part.

But most times, I tie the bugnet lines out to the ridgeline pull-outs on the tarp. In a really, really heavy rain, I guess it would be possible for rain to run down the bugnet lines when they're tied out that way . . . but I haven't had any issues yet.

I saw a better solution someone else used, where they had small d-rings sewn to the underside of the ridgeline pull-out tabs. That way they're under the tarp, but don't affect the ridgeline.

Great information, thanks. Evryone has helped start me off to a good start. The custom tarps really do look nice. At the same time, I won't dismiss my stock tarp. I guess I just need to use it in fowl weather first.
