C'mon, please tell me I'm not the only one who notices these things on the ENO hammocks webpage. :D

"jen_fun" (http://eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com/gallery/albums/singlehammock/jen_fun_hammock.jpg)

"jen_lounger" (http://eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com/gallery/albums/lounger/jen_lounger_beach.jpg)

http://eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com/gallery/albums/lounger/good_4.jpg

But I don't know about this one

http://eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com/gallery/albums/singlehammock/paul_surfboard.jpg

or this one

Is this some type of deliberate advertising campaign? :D ha ha ha

WTF!!!!

Im outraged. My ENO didn't come with none of those!?!

:confused:: :boggle:

Clearly they know its not just about the hammock. Its also about
a "full, well-rounded set of accessories". ;)
Thats what really sells.

I would have paid more, were they included with my model...

hmmm. Wonder if those last 2 accessories would work well in my TrekLight hammock? Probably worth a shot to see.

... shadowmoss wanders over to the ENO site to see about ordering those accessories...

The only thing sagging in those pics is the hammock!

Isn't it great that advertisers don't show pictures of the real people using their products? I'm not sure there is anyone on this site that I would want to see wearing any of the outfits in those pictures!:scared::eek: Slowhike, take off the speedo and put away the baby oil now!

Now I'm thinking I'm real proud of my son - he turned me on to ENOs a year ago. But... gulp... he was only eleven then! Come to think of it, I believe we looked at the ENO website then and I don't remember these shots. Maybe we didn't look at the whole site. Anyway, let me go - I need to order some hammock "accessories" before they're all out.

ugh... I feel the need to point out this thread has some distinctly "non-hammock" overtones that I am tiring of. Yeah it is funny to a point. I remember seeing a publicity photo of one of the great trans-Atlantic cruise ships at the swimming pool on board. Then right next to it they showed a reality pic of the same ship and same pool from the same angle. Lordy what a difference. But do we really need to go around with our tongues hanging out of the sides of our mouths? I am all for free speech... having just exercised my own... :)

Holy Hammocking Batman!

Take Note, The Jacks, we really don't mind Kelly Green under certain circumstances.

I am kind of fond of this model to:

Thanks for pointing out your concerns...

When tougue-in-cheek humor about hammock advertising gets analyzed by the PC police, let me know.

Animal control.... I admit that I am somewhat overly sensitive about what some folks call "tongue-in-cheek humor". My post was intended to reflect two things... 1) if we are making a intentional effort to keep posts on topic and relevant to hammocks, I think we strayed dangerously close to be being able to substitute "motorcycle accessories" for "hammock accessories" which places the emphasis on the "accessories" rather than the hammocks. Secondly, I struggled for many years with an addiction to pornography (hear me out before you jump) and it has destroyed a good many friendships I have had. I am _NOT_ saying that anything that went on in this thread bordered on the pornographic. I am only saying it pushed some of my buttons and I have seen a conversations like this slide downhill really fast in some really ugly ways on other boards and venues.
Being the obnoxious, loud mouth bothersome busy body that I am... I spouted off.

take my post for whatever you think it is worth.... and carry on.

The thread in itself is on-topic enough...much like talking about Hennessy's business practices and how it affects the hammocking community. Just keep the peace and keep it family-appropriate, pls.

Before starting this thread I contemplated the possibility that someone would be somehow be offended. But, I figured that if someone were somehow offended they'd stay off the thread, would not spend the time clicking the hyperlinks (which is why I did not display the pics themselves in the thread with the Insert Image tool) or reading all the funny puns that would surely follow. I figured that if consequent mammary gland puns got too racy then a website monitor would intervene to warn people to keep it cool. Seems pretty tame so far. But then again I used to work on a Forest Service fire fighting crew full of rednecks and was once counseled about the flavor of my jokes (the rednecks liked my jokes).

One intention was to point out the absurdity of using girly or he-man pics to sell hammocks, which to me, seems like a bizarre marketing strategy worthy of ridicule via double entendre. It seems a hammock's comfort, weight, sturdiness, good reputation and most of all, price would sell itself. I'm puzzled why those pics are on the ENO webpage. Not that I want ENO to take them down!

Well, I only saw one photo that could be considered racy, and I looked through them all. Where does a manufacturer cross the line? Have you ever saw HGTV? That could be considered porn by some--since when are all homeowning couples and the construction workers attractive and stylish? A little bit of fantasy there, and I'll guarantee most women get excited about it. Come to think of it, I'm even more pathetic and find myself lusting after new backpacking gear sometimes. That could be considered an addiction, it sure does cost me. I actually think that the use of attractive models to display the hammocks and accessories is beneficial. It makes it a lot more real and shows how things work, instead of a piece of fabric just hanging in the air. Look at clothing manufacturers, they use the good looking models to create an image, and we want to get the clothing so we can look like that. So I want to be that cool dude chilling out in the hammock by the waterfall, but I had better keep my shirt on, so as not to be too unpleasant. I wish more manufacturers would hire models to show their wares, and I'm sure some of the cottage folks wish they could budget just that. Sure, you can get some dirty, bummy hiker to do it, but that's sort of a turn off to some, such as myself. I'm also equal opportunity--the women folks want to see a stud in their hammock and the guys want to see a pretty gal. Not to mention the fact that seeing different shapes and sizes of models helps us judge if something will work for us. So I say more hammocking hunks for the gals (or however you swing) and more hammocking hotties for the rest of us!

If I sounded offended then I did not express myself very well. The last couple of posts have been excellent in my opinion. It is helpful to see models in the gear. No question about that. If any one interpreted my post as "playing moderator" I apologize. That was not my intent. I was merely expressing a personal concern and observation, worthy of whatever reaction someone gave to it.

I also wish there were more reference points to gauge size and depth in terms of a hammock ad. That's one of the things I like about the gallery shots, the ability to place that kind of information in perspective.

You know, we tolerate the edges of the 'middle' here well, usually. We've been able to have some religious discussions, which make at least as many of us uncomfortable as the racy stuff does others. I read those threads, and when I get uncomfortable, I click away. I don't jump in to demand or shake my finger at those who enjoy posting on them that 'I' am comfortable so the topic needs to stop. I try to read things that push a few of my buttons occasionally just to learn things outside of my normal orbit.

I'll bet Stephenson's Warmlite site would give some folks here a heart attack (and not just because of the prices). :)

OK, I don't think Rev was pointing fingers or getting bent out of shape. And yeah, if a subject is bothering someone, they can just choose not to read it. But the thing is that we have ask to "try" to keep this a family friendly web site.
We don't try to cut out every cuss word or off color subject, but I think enough has been said about Rev's posts & it's time to move on.

I already had an after market hammock accessory. Didn't fit well on my single nest. Oh but on my new double nest, just right.

I'm having all kinds of sag with my ENO... does anyone have any tips on hanging an ENO over a 30' span in such a way that your butt won't touch the ground?!

yes, bring a ladder, then use accordingly, once lugging the ladder around becomes a chore, go online and get a different suspension system. discard ladder.

i realy dont know what im talking about im just bored :P

You will get more response if you start your own thread, instead of changing this one.

What suspension do you use? The ridgeline will help but not if you are using the slapstraps/pro. The nylon has too much stretch.
