Sounds great papasmurf. I think this is the first time I have seen dynaglide come "stock" on a hammock. Good luck with your new design! :D

Ya, wondering about the weight rating myself with the single layer.

The UL version should be good for someone up to 225lbs.

The standard version will be available in 1.1oz & 1.9oz in both single and double layer versions. Maybe a 2.6oz Poly Crinkle taffeta also. So we've got the big fellas covered too.

Is there a smurf bridge in the future?

Is there a smurf bridge in the future?

No bridge at this time.

Here are my goals with the 2 different versions of this hammock:

Darien UL - a truly lightweight integrated net hammock that doesn't compromise on features.

Darien - A simple, quick setup, integrated net hammock that is more suitable for cost conscience buyers, new hangers, Scouts, etc. I've got the Single Layer Darien hammock down to around $108 now and am shooting for a final price of $99. To do this I will limit the fabric weights and color options to keep the price lower.

By the way - This is not "a hammock design that is going to, Blow Your Mind!"
Just a simple hammock folks that offers some things I can't get with the RoamingGnome & DangerBird.

The hammock body is based off the tutorial I posted awhile back here. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=55744

will any of these sell at MAHHA?

PapaSmurf
10-13-2012, 20:49
I'm not specifically bringing anything to sell, but if I sell any of the demo models, I won't have to carry them down to Harpers Ferry on Sunday.

Whatever I bring home will go up for sale on the Dream Hammock site as demos.

I checked it out at Fall MAHHA 2012 - pretty sweet. At 12 or 13 ounces (I forget) it's a lotta hammock for such little weight.

Got to see this one yesterday at MAHHA as well. If your looking for a light-weight rig this may be it - workmanship was outstanding.

Any chance for a 132" model with a weight rating of 250?

Not in this particular model.
The Darien UL will only be available in the 120" size and only in that fabric.

I'm planning a slightly different model that will have both a 120" and 132" size, but it ain't ready yet.

Thanks for making a light hammock, hope I get to see one on the trails. Speaking of which I have seen a huge increase in the smokey mountain park in hammock backpackers. Always looking to push the weight limit down. Makes for easier miles:)

I am so sad that some how I missed seeing this hammock at MAHA so many people so much gear it was overload. I hope to see a video of this hammock and look forward to when the weight limit is at 250 so I can purchase one :)
