View Full Version : Official First Annual Bull Run Regional Park November Hang Nov. 16 & 17
Hi All,
This is a follow up to the other thread I have out there. We will be hanging this Friday and Saturday November 16th and 17th and hope that many Northern Virginia hangers can come out and join us for either or both nights. Please let me know ASAP if you will be coming so I can reserve the appropriate space.

I am in (that's two).
What time Friday?
Might be coming. Just moved from Wva to N Va.
Add two more. It looks like my son and his girlfriend will be able to come after all.
I will be there. Weather looks nice for this weekend. Perhaps a bit cold, but no rain at least.

I was hoping to make this hang. But I have to pick up Mom at the airport Saturday. Maybe next time.
Just saw this on the web site:
Open: Main park open all year for picnicking, hiking and family camping. Bull Run Public Shooting Center open all year. Group Camping open daily January 7 though November 11.

I spoke with the park today and we are good to go. Because our group is small, we will be fine with 2 of their wooded sites (plus its much cheaper).
I am in (that's two).
What time Friday?
I am planning on working half a day and getting there between 2 and 3.
What site(s) are we in?
Still waiting to hear what time the girlfriend gets off work to know what time we'll be there.
Whats it gonna cost us to camp?

Site fees are $25 per site. They sell firewood but I recommend bringing wood if you have any, the wood they sell is fresh cut and not cured. Don't advertise that you are brining in your own wood, they don't want outside wood brought in. Since this is our first run, everyone is own their own for meals. I camp here often and the sites are very big compared to other campgrounds. The director is going to call me back tomorrow and let me know how many hammocks we can have per site. I have camped here before with 3 other hammocks in one site and they did not have a problem. If you look at the site map, I am going for sites 62, 64 and 66. There is a bathroom/shower facility by site 148 that stays open all winter but the sites there are not as wooded and tend to be more crowded. It is a short walk to get there from the sites I am recommending. As for the "alcohol is prohibited" rule, I always bring beer with me and if you choose to also, you just have to be discrete about it and pour it into a different container.
Just found out that my dad will be joining us so if 2Tall is in and no one else decides to join us we are looking at a total of 8.
Just so everyone has my info, I am Dave and my cell number is 703-732-0015. Still trying to decide which hammock to bring.
Arrg. Turns out my son and his girlfriend now have to work, I'm back to one.

I plan on showing up between 2 and 3 as well. probably closer to 3. I can bring a trunk full of chopped and cured firewood. Can't wait to meet those of you I haven't already met!

Actually, my better half (partner) works at the Clifton firehouse:) I work at the Kingstowne firehouse. Kim has been there the past 3 years and then 3 years two years before these 3 years. People always think I am crazy when I talk about "Kim" doing stuff, because everyone thinks I am talking about myself in the third person.
I am not going to make it tonight.....so sorry.

Time to start planning for the 2nd Annual NOVA hang?
Agree. Since Prince William Forest has accepted hammocks in there park, I say we target the primitive area. Lets scout it the weekend of September 13th. Anyone who wants to come along, feel free to join in.
I'm in. Even if it is Friday the 13th.
Cool. Started a new thread for the PWNF hang September 13-15
I'm confused. This is in November, or what?

Is Bull Run only a camp site, or are there trails for hiking/backcountry camping as well?
