Recently Gnome77 mentioned a get together and he talked about maybe going to this lake. I researched it a little and wanted to check it out for myself so heres the chance. I'll be on vacation untill the 20th and intend to wander about the willow springs lake area for about a week and a half and try out my hammock some more. Will be leaving tomorrow night no real plan on where to go just throwing out the idea that ill be out there with my dad and the dogs. Feel free to join us as I hurt my leg and wont be able to walk far from the truck well probably be near the road.

Hey, I'm going to be in Phoenix for a conference from Jan 10-16. Conference goes until the 13th and I was planning to head out after for one or two nights of hammocking somewhere near Phoenix. I'll have a rental car. Any suggestions?

You'll have fun, the lake was about 90% froze over, Sammy walk all the way around the lake in a couple hours.Hey Ryan, Sammy left his Cell Phone at camp. You'll probably be able to find it, look for the fire pit camp south east side of east leg of the lake. Which way you going in? If they do not have the parking areas plowed open, look for 512 scenic route to the south, about 1/4 mile on left is a sled area that you can park. Have fun

Ill keep an eye open for a phone. Not sure where we plan to stay since I cant really walk to well its more difficult to find a spot. Sounds like it will be lots of fun though. If I happen to find a phone though ill let you know and well get it back to you.

Closest to phoenix I ever camp is near a place called crown king. Pines and mountains but the road might be kinda rough for a car this time of year.

Thanks...I'll actually have a truck rental vehicle...it was cheaper than a car for some reason. I think I am going to give up on the idea of schlepping my backpacking gear for just one or two nights and do some day hikes instead. I appreciate the input!!!! :)
