View Full Version : UGQ WD11 Pole Mod
I've been playing around with pole mod on a WD 11 tarp... Here are some pics with the tarp setup in full fly, these where taken at the FLH3 hang. I used some Easton Alum tent poles I had from a tent that has been retired.
Crazy coverage with this mod and super simple top do...

Looks like a nice mod. Seems to open up the middle area to give you more headroom. Dang that tarp looks big with 2 hammocks under it! Pole mod looks like it gave you the ability to be able to hang the 2 hammocks together like that.
WD11 is a BIG tarp, easily get two hammocks under it, WD12 is even bigger... Missy & I enjoy spending time in the woods together with the double hang.
Sweet mod to an already awesome tarp!

SHAZAM!! :boggle: This is an awesome idea! I have been wondering how to keep my tarp from conflicting with my WBRR, and I think you just posted the solution for me. I'm assuming a loop on the ridgeline, then pockets of some sort on the hemline?? Could you get some closeup pics of those two areas? Also, how many sections of pole did you use? Sweet.....thanks for posting this!

Yes on both the pockets and loop at ridge line. I used velco strips for ridgeline loops, first run with GG but it was too light a ripped. You'll need to open flat feld seam with seam ripper for about 1" on underside of tarp and insert your loop material. Bar tack is in place... I built pockets out of 200d, testing one going regarding durability of 200d pockets. Pole length was 2" longer than tarp wide at center location. Pole available online from several sources in 13" & 18" length. Mine are the 13" one which fit in WD11 stuff sack... BONUS!!!
Here are couple of pics in traditional setup...

Hey, that looks like our neighbor at the Ludington Winter Hang a couple weeks ago. Awesome quality gear!

:lol::lol: Howdy Neighbor.... we are working on a new tarp that will have the option to be free standing, i.e. no trees needed for more traditional ground campers...
Looks great! I'll have to check this out more!

Would this work or be possible with the Hanger 11 WB i got from UGQ? Similar or same dimensions? Looks sweet!!

I didn't get to see this setup at FH3. I'm sorry I missed it. At FH4, we will do a Parade of Homes that we missed/forgot to do, this year.
This is a sweet setup. I love how the tarp opens wide and still provides privacy. The missus will like this(close together, almost snuggly like in a hammock). And for her, I don't have to get as many tarps(oh darn).
Lol...I like that, Parade of Homes... We will have to be sure to do that as there were so many setups tucked here and there it was easy to miss them...
Weather finally let me set up the latest pole mod for a few pictures...

Looking very good. Now, with another storm setting up in the West, you have a few days to get ready for the storm and take some pictures during the "beast". I just love "global warming".
