Has anyone had any experience with a Kennebeck Pull over kit in use as part of thier sleep system. How hard are they to construct? For those not familiar, it is a kit offered by Thru-hiker. BD

i just went over & looked at it. looks like it would be really good weight to warmth, as long as you like a pull-over.
i personally like a full zip for a wider range of ventilation, but the pull-over does give a better warmth to weight value.
you must either be getting pretty good w/ that sewing mach, or you've got your significant other talked into a project;)
of course that might be a good way to get her involved... matching his & her jackets:cool:

Uhmmmmm......Ive only had one lesson so far.....I mean really, how hard can it be? :D Not to mention I dont have a machine yet, but hey one has to start somewhere.
Seriously, I do want to learn and will probably get a machine soon. Just looking at possible future projects.

Looking at the item, I don't think the shell should be too hard to make. If you've never put in a zipper before, I'd suggest you get a zipper and some scrap material and do it on something other than slick nylon the first time. I'd also suggest hand-basting the collar in place before sewing if you've never put in a collar (they tend to pull away from you as you sew and that causes the final seam not to have that smooth, professional look) Since this item uses synthetic insulation, you should not need baffles.
