View Full Version : Darien UL, DL? vs WBBB?

I have been looking into replacing my HH hyperlite, and while the WBBB looks very nice, the weight of the Darien UL and dutchware look fantastic.

My concern is that I am looking into doing some long distance backpacking for backwoods science research and maybe an AT run and I am worried that a lightweight single layer may not be able to stand up to continued use over several weeks and months.

I am careful with my gear, but I can be a bit of a walking murphey's law at times. Things just tend to go wrong for me :laugh:.

So I was wondering if it was possible to get a doublelayer, and if that would improve the durability.

Also, does anyone have any experience with the Darien UL on these kinds of trips?

Thanks for your time!

Have a look at the Hammock Calculator (http://www.dream-hammock.com/HammockCalculator.html) on the site.
You can configure whatever you want.
e.g. Darien DL 1.0 fabric...24oz
Darien SL 1.6 fabric....21oz

Thanks, though I think I've got it figured out.

I got a raise on my last paycheck, so I'm ending up with both! :laugh:

At least I'll have a spare so my friends don't have an excuse not to join me on trips.

just to let you know,
I did the AT last year with a HH hyperlight the entire way.

if you need to unload it,
let me know.
I traded mine, and I now regret doing so.

Nice! That's always a good way to go.
