I'll be working in Boulder for about 6 weeks starting mid-May. I'd love to meet up with the gang as well!

Tentatively the weekend of May 17th-19th? Somewhere above Boulder? Any locations in mind? I have one that is only 25 minutes above Boulder otherwise.

I'm coming up from The Springs. Maybe somewhere closer to Denver and kind of split the difference?

Gagodfrey,
Did you have anywhere in mind? I obviously don't want to hang anywhere close to downtown. We may have to do one in Boulder and one in the Springs. I want to get down there and hang too!

I might be able to make it one or both days. It kind of depends on where. Most of my camping around Boulder has been for the purpose of windsurfing. I'm getting my first hammock in the next few days. So, I really have no idea where to go. I was thinking about Red Feather Lakes just north of Ft Collins. It's about an hour drive from the Ft. That's probably too far north for the CS people. I am going up for test run with my new equip at AspenGlen campground this weekend (W of Estes Park). That 20 mins from Boulder camping area sounds really intriguing. Where is it?

Also, there's always Kenosha Pass or Buena Vista.

I'm working in Denver next week and flying in early for a Saturday evening hang. Any ideas for a short hike/hang in the Denver area? Did Silver's spot work out?

Spring time in the Rockies usually means there is 6" of snow on the ground and 10 foot in the mtns. Come prepared for winter hiking. REI rents snowshoes. I would get a pair and head up to Mtn Evans Echo Lake.

Anyone interested in doing the first couple sections of the Colorado Trail? A friend and I are thinking about doing a 3 Day/2 night hike tentatively starting the morning of May 13th.

Seg 1 will be snowbound past the Strontia Springs Dam. The trail is steep and heavily wooded. It takes forever for that snow to melt. Seg 2 and 3 should be open.

I too am planning a couple section hikes of the CT this year. If you were starting the morning of the 6th that would have been great since that is my scheduled three day weekend. If you guys decide to start that Saturday instead of Friday let me know.

Just in time for the 4 bears that have made the canyon home to come out of hibernation. These bears moving in were the reason for the canyon being closed for most of 2015.
Black bears in Colorado are not much to worry about since 99% of the time they will run like hell when they see you however this canyon is very narrow with steep walls so the bear will feel trapped with no escape.

Hi Mattys, welcome to the forum. White Ranch is a great place to hang but you do need to reserve a camping spot. It's new rule they started last year.
The Colorado Trail is one of the best for hanging since it is mostly on National Forest land. Seg 6 is my favorite.

Thanks, appreciate the info.
Didn't know you had to reserve at White Ranch.
Used to live in Golden and hike up there.
Buffalo Creek looked good, used to camp up there a lot but it's been awhile.
Weekends can get busy but it's still early.
