Has anyone here hiked the JMT and if so how possible is it to do it with a hammock?
It can be done, especially if you are prepared to go to ground if your itinerary is somehow altered and you end up in the alpine areas without trees. I've seen pics of Hennessy's on the JMT in several trail journals. Doing research and going from Tuolumne Meadows to Red's Meadow the first week of August and I'm taking the Blackbird.

Note that in the second journal, he talks about an Ursack - those are no longer approved for the Sierra Nevada parks, for reasons that are evident in that journal! Yosemite bears get the food anyway. Bearikades, Garcias, and Bear Vaults (latest models) are the canisters of choice. No bear bagging allowed.
And you must pack out your TP. Sort of takes the joy of the trail out of it for me.

Well, that's pretty much the standard all over Yosemite and Seki. I'd rather do that than contribute to the strings of tp dangling from branches all over the parks.
