Has anyone hung at any of the campsites along the Pinchot trail in Lacawanna County PA? The family is thinking about a quick campout while we are in the area.

TIA

Ok, I did some searching since nobody seems to have any first hand info. The site about a mile North-East of the parking area seems to be good for a hang.

The sites in the South-West part of the loop look nicer. These 2 photos were of the sites that they found the next morning after settling for an ok site.

I think we'll head down to the sites in the South-West portion of the loop.

doogie,

There are several sites at the North end on Painter Creek that are good for hanging.

The southern end has some great spots along the creek. But if there has been a lot of rain expect the trail to be swampy.

Dan and I have done this trail a few times. Easy hiking but very grassy in spots so watch for ticks.

+1 on the Painter Creek in the Northern Loop

There are also nice sites on Choke Creek in the South Loop on the West, I think this is the spot that Dutch is referring to.

+1 on the southern end having the nicer camp sites next to a small stream. Haven't done that loop for about 4 years and it does definitely does have it's swampy spots. I particularly like they way that trail seems to go through such a large variety of trees and vegetation.
