View Full Version : Risk's $25 Hammock Stand
Has anyone made this baby. I want to strap my HH to it but I don't think its long enough. To build or not to build, that is the question.

If it is only 10 feet long then I don't thin it would work with and HH. You could always change the blue prints and make it longer though.

Yea go at least 12 feet. My hammock rigged in my gym will only go to 10 feet. Works ok but not ideal.
Troll thanks, I was thinking of adding 2' to the top and bottom supports. Going to try and work on it this weekend. If anyone remembers my pipe stand, its not finished. I tried to stake it down with a re-bar rod (1/2 x 2') and I ended up bending the rod. So its back to the drawing board with that. Plus it doesn't do well with my tarp. When I get in the hammock the pole give a little loosening the tarp.

I did make it with a few mods as shown here (http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/552209952eaJVjp). Of course now days it's more like a $50+ stand unless you already have the lumber. Mine is 10' and will hold my HH Exped, but just barely.

I sleep full time in my "$25 stand" and have for 11 months now. It has held up very well with just some minor design changes; mine doesn't come apart for transport. Well, not very easily anyway.
It also performed well during my "dynamic load" testing. ;) :D
It was cool but stayed outside so it didn't last. I since picked up a metal stand on sale for $30. Its too low so I will add extenders to raise it
