Went to Florida last week...
2 days to get there, 2 days to be there, 2 days to get back.

On the way down I hung in Congaree Swamp National Park.
Nice place, lots of trails, excellent campground for a group hang.

Had a nice ride to Florida along the pre-interstate route.

Hung two nights in Florida, one of which was near the mouth of the Suwanee River.
I had to use two trees that were not far enough apart, so I hung on the sides of the trees.

On the way back, I stopped overnight in the Francis Marion National Forest, at Hell Hole Bay Wilderness.
I didn't get any pics of the hang, because I got there right at dark. Had to set up and get inside to escape the mossies!
I left before the sun came up the next morning.

Here is how I packed. I used six Swiss Army bread bags, three on a side.
Two of them have one sneaker each, so I didn't have to wear boots all the time.
One more contains my clothing, and in another is a motorcycle cover.
The last two hold bedding and tarp. The hammock is strapped on the seat.

Bringing back some memories. I love the Suwanee River section of the FT. There is that really high point where elevation might be an issue (Devil’s Mountain). I think it is at least 100' above the water line.
Beautiful area to hang for sure! Sounds like it was a good trip.:shades:

Nice on the "tight tree" pitch!......
Thank you! I think it cured my cut-across-the-leg (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?p=107300#post107300) problem!

I love the Suwanee River section of the FT.
I found the HQ of the FT Asstn. in Gainesville, just north of Payne's Prairie. I always visit the prairie when I am in Gainesville, because we lived on the edge of it when I was a wee lad.
