I'm moving from Orem up to South Weber in the middle of August. We will be right outside of the canyon that 84 goes through. I don't know the name of it. Do y'all know where some prety sweet hangs are for me and my kids? Preferably away from other campers and in national forest so its free.

I'm certain you've figured out it's called Weber Canyon. And, Adams Canyon is in east Layton at the top of Gentile on US 89.

I hope your move went well.

If you're near Weber canyon you have all kinds of places to hang right out of your door. The Wasatch range is full of options the farther you get away from the west side of the Wasatch front the fewer folks you will find.

If you are avoiding the pay campgrounds anyway by getting off to some of the side roads you should do pretty well. If you are willing to do a little driving and/or four wheeling there are pretty much unlimited choices. The Monte Cristo area is pretty good, the High Uintas are great, the back side of the wasatch south of Mantua and north of Liberty are some great areas.

I don,t know where I found the book of maps I have for sure but it is a book of the entire state in topographical detail. I might have found it at a truck stop or something. The cover was red and is long since demolished by over use, but I want to say it was produced by Rand McNally. The amount of detail is really amazing. When I get time for it, I just grab it and go adventuring. It has all the backroads and many trails with off the beaten track points of interest like old Ephraim's grave (he was a huge bear that used to lurk around the area near logan if my memory serves me correctly). Who new it even existed...but it is marked on their map!

I am not sure if that is what you are looking for but I hope it helps.
