501 shelter on the AT, in Pine Grove, Pa. It's on rte 501 at the top of the mountain. You can park right there and it's only a hundred yard walk or so to the hang site.

Get on 78 West to PA and get off at Bethel. Turn right after you get off the exit ramp and keep going till you get to the AT Trailhead for 501.

Trailhead on right side. You are going to the shelter. Most hammocks are on the left side of the shelter. In fact, the caretaker (house next to shelter) is aware of the forum and its escapades at 501.:shades:

Just what you want to eat/drink. Stop at Dietricks, exit 29, and pick up a steak, chicken or whatever, we'll have some grills there.

I am in and I think I am the mystery guest so the cat is out of the bag. There may also be some Dutchware goodies with Dutch lost in Utah, Muhahaha (he is not really lost, but is in Utah). I will at least be showing off the newest design update of one of our premier products (there has to be some mystery in it).

i have been really been tossing the OLP and 501 around a lot, i think i may have to attend this. Probably gonna go out friday night and do an out and back, unless SilvrSurfr is still in some kind of a pre-hike maybe we can set something up.

I cant seem to find my AT guide book, which is the better way to go from 501 north or south?

+1 you can start at Rte 183 think it's ~ 9 miles from there to 501.


Also hiking North from Swatara Gap (I-81) it's about ~ 13 miles to 501.

i'm going to a family function a 2 so i'm not sure what time i'll even get back

Sorry to say that we won't be making this one. Dan is going scuba diving this weekend and I'm in the middle of a bathroom renovation.
