i'm getting ready to start back up on AT. the Superfly was GREAT, but over kill for warmer weather. i have a 10-11 JRB and my stock HH. i like a big tarp if i get stuck for a day, but rain is just rain (you can only get so wet ). what size would u guys suggest?

i love the zipper mod on my HH (top load) and might replace it with a lighter hammock with a bug net. any ideas?

you guys have been great!:) wouldn't of made it to where i did without your help:D

Awesome to see you jumping back into it Karl - I was super bummed when you had to end your last attempt due to the weight loss (I wish *I* had that problem!)

I'm a big fan of the large hex-style tarps for most weather. The Warbonnet Big Mambajamba, or MacCat Deluxe are similar in size and both guys make outstanding gear. Can't go wrong with either.

Glad to see you getting ready to head back out. It was the source of talk at bedtime for me and my wife. I would update her whenever you would update your journal. Back on topic of the tarp, I have just ordered the MacCat Deluxe, I had so many people tell me it was the way to go without over kill. Good Luck out there.

OES MacCat Deluxe in Spinn is an awfully difficult tarp to beat for an AT journey.
Of course, I'm gonna say Blackbird for the lighter hammock with a bug net.

How's the hike treating you?

Glad to see your HH Mod is holding up to the rigors of daily AT hiking. We can do it to any HH model, ever think about the Hyperlite or Racer? I like my MacCat deluxe as well. Just right for my ULBA. If you go that way, ask Brian at OES what door panels would cost. I have them and I'm set for any weather.

I love my MC Delux. In Spinn UL, I bet its tough to beat.
I have never gotten wet using my Delux!

I am a little jealous! I wish the Spinn fabric was available in colors.

Just eat some of those mushrooms growing in N. Texas, you'll see plenty of colors.:scared::lol:
One of these days I'm going to get one of the Deluxe models in Spinn. I love my Standard, but sometimes the extra room would be nice.

I ALMOST ordered a standard when you posted you'd used one last year for most of the AT but I chickened out and ordered a Deluxe. Brian is also of the opinion that the Standard is more than adequate for a regular length hennessy.

Yup, the Standard works just fine for the HH ULPB, but many people choose the Deluxe because of the extra space provided underneath for cooking/hanging out (no pun intended).
