FT: DL 1.1 Hammock

Length: 11'
Width: 67"
Fabric: Outer Layer: 1.1 Marpat. Inner layer: 1.1 Coyote Brown
Zipper: #3, non separating zipper, 2 double tab pulls
Netting: Not installed (see below)
Suspension: 6' whoopies 7/64" Amsteel grey on one side, black on the other.
Weight: (as shown) 21.5 oz

I started building this hammock for a friend a while ago, who decided he really did not like the MARPAT, so I abandoned this and built him a woodland camo version instead.

It has packhooks installed, 16" from the ends for UQ attachment. 2 tieouts. Loops inside @ each packhook and tieout allow for attachment of pillows, bags, etc. The zipper is set up to allow the netting to be stowable in the foot end. Pockets on both sides allow access in between layers for pads, etc.

For a good trade, I will finish the hammock off with either netting or an overcover (sorry, only one or the other), with bishop bag and RL organizer.

Figured I'd post it in the WTT thread, and give it a try.. it may go as a christmas present otherwise.

Looking for anything in particular in trade?

I'd love to get my hands on a tarp with doors, or a tarp with door kit.

I guess it also depends on if your wanting it finished or not

Entice me :D

Edit: And for the possibility of an overcover, the only material I have on hand is the 1.1 Coyote brown that makes up the inner layer of this hammock.

Well both my tarps with doors or a door kit are cuben and I'm not about to give them up so I'll have to see if I have something else that might entice you.

Can't foresee parting with my HG Cuben with doors or WB BMJ with doors cause the doors just arrived. Wish I had something else. I know your hammock handiwork is top notch!!

Geez, that's a good looking hammock, and one that sort of fits with my idea of what I might need/want. Anything you might be looking for in terms of insulation? Might need some additional custom work to make an even trade for what I have. Sorry, don't have a winter tarp, in the market for one of those, too.

I cant compete with a HG UQ by itself, but I know you have a soft spot for grab bag/misc type package deals .... so how about all of the stuff below for that awesome hammock:

Two hard cover cowboy cooking recipe books

Lodge Logic Cast Iron corn bread cooker:

a refurbished (mid sized) axe head that you can re-handle your self:

(House handle.com has great quality handles for cheap - and they'll help you pick the right size)

a pair of never used Red Ball chest waders. They say size 10, but my foot fits them nicely and I wear a size 11 shoe. (they seem to go for $50 on eBay) Color is an olive brown, even though they look a little green in the pic.

I have an older HG 40 incubator.

I've got a really nice summer weight UQ already, but thanks for the offer.

TC, Sorry man, I need to decline I don't know if the waders will fit (I'm size 12-12.5 depending on the shoe maker) and my wife has a corn bread pan (although I'm intrigued by the corn shape  See your PM for further explanation :boggle:

HalfAstronomical: Going to pass on the Sil.. Not sure on the LMF, as we discussed last week, I need to toy around with one first. I need to do some research on the kodak and the solar charger, but won't get a chance for a few days.

Thanks all! And Happy Turkey Day!!

Halfastronomical going to pass on the kodak, and I've decided that charger system is just more than I need to carry. Thanks though.

Still entertaining offers, I've got a lot of stuff to decide on looking at Grizzly's offer.

Sorry Hardhead, I've got quite a few hammocks around here.

I am still open to other offers, as there is a lot to decide on with Grizzly's offer.. Deciding which knives get love, and which get ignored is painful.

Would you consider a cold weather UQ?

Tell me more :D

First, if you're a gram weenie, this is NOT the UQ for you--It's a monster!

Full-length, DIY. I'm thinking it is around 78" x 52" but will have to confirm

550 FP down

4" of loft

I plugged all the numbers into one of the UQ calculators and it came back saying it should be good down to -15.

In a compression sack it is about the size of a basketball.

I don't know how much it weighs.

What material is is made out of?
How well maintained has it been?
Any chance of getting a weight? Stick it in a box, and get a "shipping quote" from the Post Office? Just make sure you ask them to give you the weight.

What are you looking to trade for? The hammock as it is? With a Net or overcover? etc

Very interested in the UQ.. But also still interested in Grizzly's offer (waiting on a sheath from him from the PIF to put one of his nice sheaths to the test, should have it by weeks end.)

FLScouthanger

Material is 1.9 RS nylon.

It has never been used. It was my first DIY at a quilt with baffles as well as using down and I just went a bit crazy with the down when it came time to fill it.

I'll never use it here in FL. But, upstate NY...???

I'll try to get the weight of it later this evening...

As for the hammock, I'd prefer it with the same marpat for it if you have some left over.

hk2001
12-04-2013, 19:16
The hammock in the pictures is the one I'm offering for trade :D currently unfinished. (no netting)

Are you looking to trade the UQ for the hammock as it is right now? Exactly as the hammock is shown in the pics?

FLScouthanger
12-04-2013, 20:02
Would prefer it finished with an overcover that would mate to the currently installed zipper, if possible.

Update on UQ specs: 70" x 44", 64 ozs. You could easily shave about 6 ozs from it by getting rid of the grosgrain and replacing the 1/4" shock cord with 1/8". Compression sack is 5.5 ozs.

hk2001
12-04-2013, 20:36
Whew.. a 4lb UQ? Not sure 1/8" shock cord would hold that.

Thats a lot to think on..
