I need to buy paracord for a non hammock related project.
Anybody here handle it? Or know of a place?

I did get my Amsteel 7/64 thru dutch with great shipping speed!

So you can see in the photos I need the paracord as whipping.
It's function is to stiffen the Amsteel
but it's also got it's cosmetic component,
it has to look good.
I like this kind of green to match what it's lifting.

Now I have to unwrap this to find out just how much I used.
I have 9 of these handles to make .....

.... and yes,
I had to figure out how to make a splice for this Amsteel via youtube.
It works great!

I've got a spool of some that's a little lighter in shade. You can see it in this video. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9LSPRneHsA) Let me know if you are interested and how much you need.

A lot of craft stores stock it now...Michaels, AC Moore, and Hobby Lobby all carry it.

Also, if you go to the craft stores, check their online sites for coupons. I often find 40% to 50% off coupons that I use for paracord.

Other online stores I've used:

http://www.supplycaptain.com

Warning - paracord is addictive, perhaps more so than hammocking!

checked out supply capt ....
I think the color I want is emerald green?
they didn't have it ...... hummmm .......

on to ebay ..... and beyond .....

Also, I have to come up with a termination at the ends and I'm having trouble coming up with a nice looking way of doing it. suggestions?

edit: dutch really spoiled me on the shipping of the Amsteel, and I'm missing that!
found the Emerald Green at http://shop.vtarmynavy.com/paracord-c24.aspx
but shipping is double what 100' costs, ouch.

Order from amazon and get free shipping!

Burn/melted ends work well or run the cord back inside itself a ways

I recently saw a trick on here that tucked the ends of the whipping under the whipping - nice clean look

I get my para from "survival pax dot com". Good color selection and the inventory online is up to date, SO NO "sorry were out of stock after you ordered". Shipping is always fast. I've ordered a lot from them.

I always use CampingSurvival

http://www.campingsurvival.com/us-made-military-paracord-1000.html

1000 foot spools, $44.83. Many colors.

They do sell in shorter lengths but hey, I figure if I'm gonna buy - I'm gonna buy. Might as well go in for bulk. Not like it will go to waste ;-)

Thanks for the offer! but I have to be very color specific ..... and I sure wish I knew what color I had in my hands for my example that a friend let me have.

I bought 100 ft of Emerald Green, nope, not a match. But I can use is somewhere, just not on my handles, dang.

I'm trying to look for places locally, all an hour away ...... online is easier but I can't determine the color I want with online pics.

From what I can tell from your photos. it could be Ranger Green.

Check Home Depot. There stores up here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area are carrying quite a selection -- somewhere around 20 spools of various colors.

guess it depends on what store you go to? I went yesterday and had a very poor selection, and when I asked they didn't even know what I was asking for! of course this wasn't in your part of texas ......

If you want to buy a specific color Fullbellyinsurance.com has a ton of colors. Shipping might be a little steep for only one hank though.

I've bought from them several times with no problems.

I go to the local sports store Academy and all they have is black, ok, so that color could also work I suppose. I start to whip one of the handles and notice the back of the packaging, "Make in China". After everything I've gone thru, nope, can't do that! I haven't shown what the rest of all this is, just the handle part, and "to make this connection" (in many ways) just can't be done this way! It's got to be "Made in the USA" with USA made parts, Made by an American, made in Texas! so no cutting corners. I can certainly use this other paracord for something else and I'd not feel so bad about it. Back to online shopping!

My original "Emerald Green" 100' hank from OutdoorBunker thru Amazon is giving me a coupon, buy 3 get one free. With four tries maybe I can get it right? Coupon code= 1freenow

If it's a bother to you go ahead and close it if it'll make you happy.

update: went back to Outdoor Bunker on Amazon and ordered black after checking out that color some more. It should match just fine, enough anyway, and it's made in the good ol' USA! Should have it wednesday-ish in the mail.

There's got to be a better way to check colors ...... a swatch of some kind? I also found many colors to be out of stock ..... hence going with the black.
