I wanted to post a follow-up on the current status of the Hammock Forums Store.

I have been working on the store for the last month. I have used one of my spare rooms in the house and put up shelving and bins to help keep the store organized.

I will be carrying everything that we currently carried in the store. I have also added a few new items. I am also working with Dutch at Dutch Ware about carrying some of his items.

My goal is to have the store back open the first of the year (2014). When I first open the store I will only ship within the Continental United States. I am doing this until I have all the bugs worked out of the store software. Once I feel comfortable with it I will open the store to international ordering to Canada and the United Kingdom and other areas.

If you have any ideas or suggestions of things that might be a good to carry in the store, please offer suggestions and please supply a url link to the item you are suggesting. I will take your suggestion into consideration and talk to the other admins about it. In order to add things in the store we need to consider a few things. 1, will the item move. 2, can we get a good deal on the item so we can break even or pass it on. 3, can we resupply the item easily.

Here is a sneak peak at the store https://hammockforums.net/store/.

Good work there, attroll. Definitely shaping up nicely. I'm already eyeballing a few items.....like the Q-Loks, HF stakes, NATO line locks & HF biner. And of course, everyone wants/needs Dutch bling!

Excellent! Any chance you will be adding the HF Flag? Never got one and always jealous when I see 'em at Hangs.

Very nice. Two things caught my attention that I really like...the pricing on the mini D biners and the fact that the tee shirts are wicking polyester instead of cotton. I hate cotton on the trail.:thumbup1:

Looking good. I'd suggest that keeping full sets of tarp and hammock suspension materials would make it more likely to sell the memorabilia and dutch gear on the site vs. going somewhere else where you can get everything you need. Ie: 1" webbing/straps, Amsteel, Zing-It, Whoopies, and some guyline.
As far as the custom HG stuff maybe printed Handkerchief or Buff, and a lightweight lidded coffee mug?

Talk with Dutch about the AT Medallions. I'd certainly purchase a few, with the logo or just HF. I think either would do very well.

ATTROLL,

Thanks for the sacrifice of home space. That's a big sacrifice.

Regarding gear that will move.......... Stakes/Tent Pegs is something that everyone of us deal with each time we go into the woods or on the trail. Setting up the tarp, staking out the tarp and hammock; we're always using stakes/pegs. Seems that a simple variety of 3 season stakes plus a good, reliable 4th season stake would get a fair amount of play.

Something to think about anyway.

All the best and keep up the great job. It's a real labor of love......

Gil

Thanks fishbait I was meaning so we could pay for the membership online vs mailing a check.

You can pay online with PayPal. I think you have to go another screen in past the one that says about mailing in a check. Then you will get the PayPal option. Something like that...basically, keep going in the donation process and there will be an online option.

You can pay it online using that link Fishbait showed you. It has a PayPal option once you select your donation and click on "order".

I would definitely be interested in the patch and t-shirt. Adding the Dutch stuff is a great idea to avoid paying for shipping twice.

So there is no confusion, we don't offer the flags people are talking about.

To find out how to get a flag, see THIS (https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8121) thread.

I think the store should have some beginner hammocks for those who want to start hanging. I suggest the ENO singlenest. Here is where they are found the most cheap. Most places are $59.95, and you could sell it for the same amount and still make profit.

We need a count down clock and a Virtual Bottle of Champagne for the store opening.

Robbie, we don't really want to compete with our Cottage Vendors.

Robbie, we don't really want to compete with our Cottage Vendors.

...but if you made a deal with the cottage vendors to serve as an outlet for their entry-level setups, that would work.

A little off topic here, but will we ever see a store on Whiteblaze.net? I love the logo and a store was one of the first things I looked for when I first visited the site.

I don't know if I could handle running two different store web sites. But in the future I am thinking of adding WhiteBlaze memorabilia to the HF store. I am thinking only things like hats, shirts, patches, and stickers but that would be about all.

Since retiring I gave up my e-mail, and refuse to use credit cards. Is there any way to order by mail paying by check or Money order? It would be real nice to have a coupla stickers for the car and a t-shirt or 2.

I think PayPal was an option before the store closed. Not sure though.

I believe it's really easy to have logos put on multiple items with Cafepress

Shirts done through Cafepress are iron on quality and don't last. If you going to use logos on items in Carepress it is best to get the companies permission to use them first.
