I need some waterproof ground cloth material . I'm gonna cut a slit in the bottom of my eno bugnet and install a waterproof tub floor for when I have to sleep on the ground. 5' x 8' should be plenty.

btw, I got a thread all about this here:

How about tyvek, or .7mm plastic? Both are cheap and waterproof.

I would use 'Tyvek'

an old 1 person tent footprint would work as well. it would probably be a little heavier than the tyvek or painter's plastic though. plus it'll likely have grommits already in the 4 corners, which would be nice to acheive your bathtub-style floor

on this note, i wonder if it'd be worthwhile to have some sort of footprint suspended below a hammock (kind of like an underquilt is, but a little lower) to store gear in and also to protect the bottom of the hammock from rain

with those grommets or some loops lines could be tied to help suspend the ground cloth, and be snugged up in cold times .....

this is another idea I had and works well, a poorman's peapod.
I didn't need much of a sleeping bag .....
I can't believe I'm thinking cold weather gear when it's getting soooo warm here.
