View Full Version : Pad and pack for dog
Hi lost the pad I had for my dog in a recent canoe trip accident...so looking for a new one does not have to be in great condition or even a full pad as long as my German shepherd can curl up on he he's not picky. Also thinking of getting a pack for him so wanted to see if anything is out there he's about 80lbs and has some growing to do yet. Thanks in advance

We use a mountainsmith pack. A roll of reflextix sits on top. http://www.amazon.com/Mountainsmith-Dog-Pack-Medium-Heritage/product-reviews/B003VUREM8
Yeah reflextix doesn't work for my dog for some reason he believes it is a lot of fun to tear it up into a hundred pieces not sure why he insists it's a chew toy

you could sew it inside a tyvek 'pillow case'. it will last longer, be warmer and a bit more resistant to tearing. a grommet to stake each corner and it would stay put. velcro an opening, and you could fill with leaves and grasses for added insulation.
dump the leaves, rollit up and he'll pack it out.

I have an old adventure 16 that is in decent shape I could let you have for $20 plus shipping.
Personally, I have a newer rei that I am extremely happy with. The dog is too. If cost is not a concern, the best dog pack out there is ruff wear palisades.
The pack I have that I would sell is pink....don't ask. It was used for a lab, so it should fit pretty well. Super plain Jane.

I really appreciate that I'd take you up on that but I don't know if I could do the pink thing
