I'm contemplating making a full length UQ, and having a hard time deciding on how best to proceed.
I'm looking for something around 15 degrees, and not too heavy (both physically and on the pocket book).
So far I've seen a couple major idea trends:
Sleeping bag conversion
DIY with layers of Insultex etc
Traditional DIY down UQ
All that is to say this~ can you all help post here/direct me to some of the more successful DIY UQ ideas/patterns/tutorials that would help fit my needs?
Many thanks,
Ben

No response...
Does such a collection of ideas already exist?
Thanks,
Ben
Ben,
Sorry that you haven't had any replies yet.
You have thrown quit a large net and I think that makes it hard to give useful/helpful replies.
There are a lot of DIY'ers here and have been many threads on your 3 possibilities but they tend to stay focused on each individual method.
All three of the possibilities you listed have their merits and weakness, but I think it would be helpful, and you would get more input, if you chose a path to start down.
Not to further muddy your waters, but there have also been some threads lately about using cheaper "puff" type jackett to fashion an UQ--climbing.kevin (?) posted one recently
I think Xtrekker has a collection of useful diy inks on his site: http://xtrekk.wix.com/latitude
My experience has been with the down UQ and here are some of the threads I found helpful......

For a 15 degree UQ, I think that down will have a big advantage in packability and weight
Good luck and I hope others can chime in with more info for you

Also check out CatSplats "DIY differential cut UQ calculator" thread if you decide to go with the classic down UQ. I don't think this thread is one of the threads that jwright posted. I used this thread to make my UQ.
Might also check out this sticky thread.

I believe there are some projects not shown on the first page that were not incorporated due to OP running out of edits.
