Our district Camporee had a western theme and that meant beans were the required ingredient for the dutch oven contest. Yes, beans, beans the magical fruit, etc...

Our troop entered a Black Bean Enchilasagna and a BYDSTOC (pronounced bidstock) Cake and ended up with a nifty blue ribbon and an even niftier dutch oven.

The Black Bean Enchilasagna takes elements from enchiladas and others from lasagna. It's a tasty one pot meal that does not hit your stomach like an adobe brick.

BYDSTOC is an acronym for Bet You Didn't See That One Coming, and I really doubt anybody did. It is essentially a flourless chocolate cake that uses garbanzo beans as a base and we kicked it up a few notches by adding a dark chocolate gnash, raspberry glaze, fresh raspberries and a dusting of powdered sugar. Beyond the winning was the "what the boys got out of it" part one relishes when mentoring our youth.

Here are some photos and recipes if anybody is interested.
