we'll see what some of the others say but i would think the shiny side would be the treated side & would normally be protected by putting it on the inside.
but because the dull side feels better against the skin, i would have to ask the same question.

The dull side should definitely go toward the user. My understanding is that the material is treated equally on both sides, but the shiny side is "hot calendared", which partially melts the threads together. This makes this side more effectively water resistant. It also wouldn't feel particularly good against the skin when making a hammock or top quilt.

As far as I have always read the dull side goes out.
Refer to thru-hiker.com (http://www.thru-hiker.com/anyboard/forum1/posts/9051.html)

EDIT: Fixed link.

In Ray Jardine's book Beyond Backpacking he referred to the shiny side as the wrong side and that was the side that went towards one's skin.

I have been doing the exact opposite, shiny side out. I also read the message boards on Thru-hiker.com that said the dull side of the Momentum90 was the "right side". I leaned something new today.

You could always ask AYCE to see what he says. I actually had a telephone conversation with him about this a couple weeks ago, but that does not mean I understood what he was saying. In fact, I didn't know it was called a calendered (spelling?) side until that conversation.

Shiny side out has been working well for me...it also comes from Ed Speer who sells calendared DWR and uses it for his kits/hammocks.

I talked to AYCE a couple times for my mom90 order through him. Nice guy that would probibly be willing to help.

When I spoke to him we actually spoke about DWR, since I didn't have momentum90. He definitely knows more than I do.

Or you could lay on both sides and choose whichever feels most comfortable to YOU.
