Is 8 x 10 a sufficient rainfly?

i have an eno double nest, im 6'5, i was wondering if 8 x 10 tarp will be sufficient for a rainfly set up?

Depends on how much sag you hang your hammock with. Put in a structural ridgeline less than 100" and you'll be ok with that tarp. You get to decide if that hammock is good for your height with a 100" ridgeline...I'm guessing you'll need a longer hammock ridgeline, and therefore possibly a larger tarp. But you won't know until you try.

Is your concern the length or the width of the tarp. I would have some reservations on the 8' width. I purchased the Sportsman Guide 9x9 tarp reccommended on this site for my HH and I found it is more than adequete coverage. You hang it just like the stock HH tarp(at the corners) I recently got caught in a nasty & windy spring storm and i didnt really experience any rain being blown under the tarp. I primarily kayak /fish/camp so the extra weight is not really an issue for me.

The dimension of the ENO is 6'8"x9'10" so it would cover the hammock,but barely. Not going give you much blowing rain and splash protection. As Lone Wolf said a Gear Guide tarp has a 12' ridge line when pitched in a diamond shape. Plenty of coverage.

I would not pitch a rectangular tarp on a diagonal. I was just saying that the 10' length might not be adequate coverage for that hammock and the GG tarp would be a cheap option.

It is do-able though. And will provide more coverage than pitched as a rectangle. It replicates the ASym tarp, so be particular to pitch it so it matches your diagonal lay.

I have an ENO DryFLy and have decided that it definitely doesn't provide the extra coverage I need. It's just plain old not wide enough. I just bought a sewing machine on ebay and am going to try to get some help sewing a BlackCat (http://www.jhatkhat.com/Khat/camping/bcdir/) to give better coverage and reduce weight. I used the 9x9 Sportsman Guide that some others spoke of last weekend in Hot Springs one night (Thanks again HC4U!). It gave pretty good coverage, but had definite sag issues. I saw a couple OES MacCat tarps (http://www.outdoorequipmentsupplier.com/maccattarps.htm) there, the Deluxe model. If you don't mind spending a couple extra bucks, it would probably be worth it. I've talked with a few people now who have the MacCat and I've nevr heard anyone say anything bad about them. As a matter of fact, everyone's pretty much sung praises of them.

I tried using an 8 X 10 with my ENO single and got wet from the hammock absorbing water from the blow in at both ends. The diagonal set up helps but I still think I'll switch to a 10 X 12 for the ENO. The 8 X 10 works great for all my other hammocks though.

The large 9x9, 8x10 and 10x12 tarps are a lot more than necessary....and heavier.... all you need is about an 11 foot ridge line and side coverage to match the hammock....

But then I'm biased.

I have one also. It is a very nice tarp that is more than adequate. I will continue to use mine although I prefer my Black Cat tarp on most occasions.
