I think that it's based on empirical evidence, but may be wrong. TBH, I'm not even sure if it's based on the length of the hammock before whipping/gathering,

I thought it was finished hammock length. So an 11ft hammock would net 109.5 or 83% of 132. Did I misunderstand?
