Definitely hadn't thought about less steep angle. I did have my tarp ridgeline up higher given the low chance of rain (so I could walk around easier)

Strap length

If a little extra weight and bulk are not an issue I'd rather go longer. Depending on where you travel you might be thankful for carrying the extra suspension
